Guest guest
TODAY’S MOTIVATIONAL MESSAGE ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- --- CAVIAR WISHES My dear friend Sherry and I, and our two teenage sons, and , had taken a three day cruise on Walt Disney's Big Red Boat, the summer of '91. What a wonderful time we had that first day! Not one of us had ever taken a cruise before and we were enjoying everything it had to offer, as we explored every deck of the ship, bathed in the sun, and enjoyed spectacular stage shows. When the day was through, we were eager for a good night's rest, as we sailed on the ocean blue. We had a big, beautiful cabin, with two comfy beds and two upper bunks. Choosing a place to sleep, just sort of fell into place. As Sherry, being a little older than I, took the big bed, her son , too long for the upper bunk, took the other, and , never having slept in an upper bunk, eagerly chose it as his place to sleep. And, having had three brothers, which called for bunk beds in our house, brought a sense of nostalgia for me, so I chose the other. As I climbed up the ladder, it brought back old memories of the times my brothers and I told ghost stories, and jokes from the top bunk. The lights were dim, as I plopped into bed, face down into the soft pillow. And in seconds flat, the rest of our crew and I were out like a light. All through the night I felt something strange and smooth, but gritty, on my neck and arms. But, too tired to investigate, I drifted in and out of sleep, and tried not to let it bother me. Then late into the night, a sudden urge awoke me. I had way too many soft drinks that evening, I had to use the restroom. So in a sleepy stupor, I started my climb down the ladder. Funny, but the ladder never seemed so steep or difficult to climb down, when I was a kid. Half way down the hard steps, I thought to myself, " there could only be a couple of more steps to go, I'll just jump, " and that I did. Problem was, there were more than just a couple of steps left, as I fell with a loud THUD onto the floor. It scared poor Sherry, causing her to sit straight up in her bed, as did the boys, when she yelled, " Oh my gosh, are you alright!? " As they threw on the lights, I quietly replied, " I think so. " There I was -- sitting on the floor in my " 30-something " t-shirt. I was COVERED IN CHOCOLATE from my chin to my knees! You see, when we had returned to our cabin late that night, our cabin-attendant had turned down the beds very eloquently, softened the cabin lights, and left a sweet, chocolatey-crunchy mint, on each of our pillows... a chocolate mint that I didn't see, in a dimly lit room, in that upper bunk. After we were sure that I wasn't hurt, we all chuckled, then drifted with the sway of the ship, back off into sleep. The experience? Well, it left us with a whole new meaning to the phrase, Chocolate dreams and Caviar wishes. - Ferris Submitted by Richmond To view other great motivational articles and inspirational stories, visit us online at: http://www.motivational-messages.com/
