Guest guest
I would like to know for those of you on Oxycontin, what dosage helps you. I take 160 mg 2x day which I understand is high. If you feel more comfortable, then please write to me privately, either way is fine. Andi
Guest guest
I take 80mg 2x a day, sometimes 3x's. Depending on how crappy I feel. 160 isn't really that high. I've talked to people that take 260mg 2x a day, some take 300+mg 2x a day. Depends on your tolerance. Guest guest
For me (and many other people), the oxycontin only last's 8 hours. When it starts to wear off, I take another one (you're supposed to take it every 8 to 12 hours, keeping it in your system at all times). Sometimes the pain is so bad that I will take another one 4 to 6 hours after the second one. I *know* when it's wearing off because my neck, shoulders, back and legs start hurting really bad. If I take that 3rd one it's usually somewhere between 7pm to 9pm and I don't feel like I was hit by a truck when I get up at 5:30 in the morning. My neurosurgeon told me that it was ok to take an extra one when I needed it. I don't do it that often, I don't need to. Unless I've done a lot of stuff that day. I try to keep moving because (I hope no one bashes me for this) exercise is the best thing for people with fibro. But you have to have the proper pain medication to be able to even start an exercise program. Walking, low to no impact aerobics, yoga/ stretching and swimming are the best ones. But without the proper pain meds, no one wants to even think about doing exercises, let alone actually doing them. I'll shut up now! Rhonda Re: Oxycontin dosage Rhonda: Thanks so much for answering me. I am glad to know I am not at the highest dosage. Since Oxycontin is a time released medication, can you tell me how you can take 80mg 3x day. As soon as mine wears off, I don't automatically take it. I wait until the pain comes on as it usually does within a few hours of it wearing off. Maybe your 80mg wears off faster. Andi
