Guest guest
Doctors are human they make mistakes. Machines that pick up heart beats also are NOT full proof. Go with your GUT FEELING. A week can make all the difference with the heart beat being able to be seen. I hope this is just a mistake, I wish you all the best. God Bless. Guest guest
Hi Kashi, I'm so sorry you are going through this. Seven weeks is still pretty early and maybe they just could not hear a heartbeat. It happened to my friend and then next visit everything was fine. And the fact that your having all those symptoms is a good sign that your still pregnant. I hope everything will be ok. I know how scary it is. I just had my baby boy 3 months ago and had many scares during pregnancy and still scared something will happen to him. I will pray for you. Please keep us posted ok. Guest guest
I agree but know that many insurance companies or even if you are receiving medicaid will only allow 2 US during the pregnancy! It is rediculous to only allow two but if it is the case it is better to wait unless you can pay for it yourself because you will want to be able to have the US when it is most beneficial to the baby! Guest guest
I have to wait until 18 weeks for my first ultrasound!!! which totally stinks! Guest guest
No, hon... you DO NOT have to wait until 18 weeks. I WOULD DEFINATELY find another OB if they are going to try to make you wait that long. That is ridiculous, in my opinion!! I've had TWO us's so far (one at 6 weeks and one at 8 weeks) and will have another next week (13 weeks) to make sure the baby is progressing as it should. If your doc is concerned about insurance paying, all he/she has to do is list you as high risk due to wls, and it will be covered!! Hon... get that US... it makes the world of difference when you can see that little *lintel* grow into a *lime* -- it was the only way I would believe I was pregnant! LOL!! Good Luck! HUGS!! Guest guest
Hey Kashi- I was also told I was about 9 weeks along, and then went to the doctor for my first ultrasound. They did the external ultrasound, and saw nothing. My doctor then did an internal ultrasound, and it took FOREVER for him to finally see the heartbeat. He kept playing with the monitor and I was really starting to freak out. When the heartbeat finally showed up, even the nurse grabbed the side of the table and exclaimed " oh, thank God! " (that was very reassuring- yeah, right!) It turned out I was only about 6 weeks along and that's why they had such a hard time seeing the heartbeat. Don't give up yet. Get them to do another ultrasound- demand it! It may have been just too soon. My thoughts are with you. Guest guest
Sharon, Thank you for your reply. I am planning to wait for a week or two before getting another ultra sound. I am baffled that doc mentioned d&c without checking hcg level and other blood work... isn't that bad? Kashi > Doctors are human they make mistakes. Guest guest
Hi Maja, Thank you. I can believe it, I barely knew this baby for a 5-6 weeks since I found out I am expecting and all I care about is having this baby alive, even that mean I have to die... Guest guest
That is rediculous. Although my insurance co. generally pays for 2 US's if your OB finds it necessary they will pay for more. In my pre-op pregnancy I had 11 US's and in my post-op I had 8. I might also include I see a Perinatologist (high risk OB) as I am Epileptic. So, I don't know if that has any bearing on it.
