It is of utmost importance that you get your homocysteine levels lowered !! It is actully a much better test of possible heart attack then cholestrol !!! I know this because I have done the research due to having had a heart attack & dying during it !!! My cholestrol was ONLY 127. But the Homocycteine was 12 on a scale of 1 to 15. I had no clue about homocystine before the heart attack.

You lower it by taking the B COMPLEX, which is all the numbers, 6, 12, ect, you also need Folic acid.

Wow, Cindy, I knew it was important, but not that important. Mine is 13.4 on a scale of 3.3-10.2 so it's quite elevated. I'm on Cardio-B which is B12, B6 and Folate. Thanks for telling me, I'll be more diligent about taking it. What actually causes the elevation? I had a stress echo last year and they said everything was fine. How long should it take for the B's to bring it down?... Judy

Hi,

I didn't know that either, but B50 COMPLEX is something that I take

regularly as being hypo it repairs so much this conditon hurts.

Make sure it is complex though, as the compound which only contains

minimal amounts of the B's and does little for you. Tried it and

wasted my money. When taking the B's you need to take ALL of them

as they work in harmony much better in the body. You can get the

B's in varying values of 50mg and up and seeing your need at this

time 75mg or 100mg might be a good dose to start on and it may also

help with your other numbers too. Have you had your B12 done, as we

get to menopausal we tend to need more of that. All are water

soluable and any excess is flushed out with the urine and it will

color it a bright yellowy color which is normal. Thanks Cindy that

was good info!!

Here is the breakdown of what is in the Cardio-B tablet:

Each capsule contains:

Betaine (TMG) 500 mg,

Vitamin B6 (as Pyridoxine HCL) 500 mg,

Folic Acid 5 mg,

Vitamin B12 (as Methylcobalamin) 1000 mcg.

Does that look like a good mix? It says one or more capsules a day, but I've only been taking one. I'm glad you said that the excess would wash away because I was trying to find out if there were toxicity levels and couldn't find much information.

I think for me it's a factor with insulin resistance. I'm hoping as I eliminate the sugars and lose some weight, that it will come down itself a little as well.

I've been taking it with food because it's a capsule and it doesn't really say on the bottle. It just says 'as directed by your physician' and he didn't really tell me. He told me to take the Tri-Salts on an empty stomach and nowhere near the Armour, and the 'Digest Gold' with breakfast and dinner, so I guess he would have specified if I needed to take it in any particular way.

Make sure it is complex though, as the compound which only contains minimal amounts of the B's and does little for you.

What are HOMOCYSTEINE LEVELS? Never heard of that one and with all the tests I had in the past six months, I am surprised.

What are their functions and what do high levels or low levels mean?

This is what is in my B50 all are 50mg unless stated differently:

B1,

B2, riboflavin (thiamine mononitrate)

B3, niacinamide

B6, pyridoxine hydrochloride

pantothenic acid (calcium d-pantothenate)

lipotropic factors: choline bilartrate & inositol

50mcg of:

B12, cyanocobalamin

Biotin (d-biotin)

0.4mg folic acid

Will do that later if I can find time as hubby has to go back for

check-up with the surgeon today and it is basically an hours drive

there so there goes a lot of my day. I take mine at breakfast as I

find that B6 does a good job on the bladder and I don't want to be

up all night.
