Hi Mia,

My son has the same thing. So severe in fact we have been here for 7

weeks, doing 9 castings, going on 10 friday, and we will be needing

surgery. Dr. ponseti has said he has only seen 2 other cases as

severe as my son's, who is now 11 months. Dr. Ponseti is the best

choice there is. He will contact you personally even being 90. The

team he has that works with him is awesome! We have been through

several dr.'s and wish we had started with Dr. p. I truly do not

recommend Shriners. Coming here to Iowa was the best thing we could

have done.

If you cannot afford all of it, the mcdonald house will not turn you

away if you can't pay. They are awesome here. you don't have to

worry about a whole lot of food, there is plenty of it always

around.

Have you contacted your church to ask for help financially? I also

know the university will work out a payment plan for you. dr. p will

not turn you away either. If you can do it, come here. You will

never regret the choice. Each surgery that your child has, which is

what the Shriners would do, possibly 2-3 surgeries as they are

atypical, will cause your child to have scar tissue which will become

painful later on. The more surgeries, the more scar tissue. And it

becomes very very tight.

If you have any questions or need any other help, please let me

know. We are staying at the Mc house right now. I

would not be any other place, even as hard as it is to be here.

Overall, the ponseti method when done by him, is cheaper than

surgeries. And they will work with you.

Lord bless you and your little one!! :)

We were kind of lucky because I live in MN so it is only a 6 hour

drive. We are very short on money though because my husband has also

had a lot of medical problems. I contacted the Mc house

but ended up staying with my aunt who lives 2 hours from Iowa City.

We are still making a lot of payments like for the shoes and Dr

visits. We brought along our own food in a cooler so we didn't have

to eat out. The Mc house has a kitchen and stuff you

can use. We even had a garage sale to pay for our gas to drive

down. I know that sometimes the churches ect have fundraisers to pay

for medical expences. You might be able to look into that too.

There are some people on the list that have used Angle flights to fly

them. Also if you are willing to be a little flexable with your fly

out dates it can help with the cost. Even if you have to stay an

extra night at Mc it might be worth it to save money on

your flight. You could also look at taking a bus. There is also an

Angle bus but I think it is just getting started and I don't know

where they all go.

Good luck. It will be worth it!
