Guest guest
Mike - thanks for posting this info - as always I've learned a couple new things - I'll get my homeschool degree in anatomy yet :-) PS I know what the acpuncture/electrical stimulation thing is - it's a stimplus and uses microcurrent. When it locates an acupuncture point that needs attention it beeps fast - you activate it and you get a small electrical current running through your body - with the entrance at that point. Works great to relax local muscles. I carry mine with me and have used it countless times to head off headaches. Has a lot of other applications, but the only thing I've used it for is to do acupressure on the points on my ears (which is called ????? I forget). Guest guest
I know what the acpuncture/electrical stimulation thing is - it's a stimplus and uses microcurrent. I forget). --------------- One of my Jin Shin Do instructors (the PT) has one and uses it in her clinic work. She showed it to us when I took the acutonics class. My first reaction was " neat - I need to get one of those. " Then I found out the price and thought " no, I don't. " 's was something over $100 but I don't remember the exact price. For those not familiar with them, what they do is measure the electrical conductivity of the skin. I can't remember off the top of my head if there is more conductivity or less at the acupoints, just that there is a measureable difference compared to the surrounding skin. The stimplus detects that difference. My interest was for use in precise location of points and for showing other people. But sense I can pick up the different sensations with my hands, I figured I would save the money and spend it instead on a book or class. Working ear points is called " auriculotherapy. " One of the major premises of oriental medicine is called " As Above, So Below. " In brief, this holds that different locations on the body have points that represent the body as a whole. Another more familiar term for most people would be Reflexology. The main body areas with points of correspondence are the feet, the hands, and the ears.
