Guest guest
SHADOW DREAMS When I was a child. the times that I had to live with my Mother & Stepfather We lived the lives of Migrant Farm Workers There were days upon days of traveling to the next fruit or vegetable harvest that we would work. So to pass the time.....I would gaze out at the shadow of the car and pretend that the shadow of the car was a beautiful Black Stallion keeping pace with the car He ran alongside the road....jumping the fences and brush piles and streams. Then in my imagination.....I placed a Rider upon his back......a young Indian Boy about my age.....he would look at me and smile.... as if inviting me to join him. So One day I did......! And thus began my adventures of the Shadow Dreamer...... I found that he had brought A Shadow horse for me to ride. It was a beautiful white and black spotted appaloosa stallion.......as I breathed in the warm smell of horseflesh, my friend dismounted to help me mount the bare back of my new Steed. We began to ride away from the hateful road and climbed a grassy hill covered with blue bonnets....and indian paintbrushes. When we reached the top of the hill.. we looked down into a green valley with a stream running through it lined with tall trees. "Do you want to go down into the Valley ? " My friend asked me...... "Can we? " I asked." We can do anything you want... This is your Shadow Dream." So we rode down into the cool, green valley and followed the stream for awhile My friend said that he wanted to show me something. So we dismounted and walked along the stream till we found a deep clear pool of water. As we sat at the edge of the pool and looked into it....... I was delighted to see two Indian children looking back at us.! They were dressed all in buckskin....with long braids with feathers and beads woven into their hair. and beautiful bead work covered their clothes. "Is that us?" I asked, " What is your name?" I am Shadow Rider .....and my Horse is Shadow. You are Shadow Dreamer. " What is my horse's name?' I asked Shadow Rider. To which he replied, " Why don't you ask him." I walked over to my horse.....looked into his liquid brown eyes, kisses his velvety nose, and asked . He nickered softly deep in his throat......and gave me his name. I turned to Shadow Rider.....and said," He says his name is MAGIC." Then .......Thump......the car hit a bump in the road..... and I was jerked back into reality....... But I knew that I would be able to find my friend again anytime I needed to escape to the world of Shadow Dreams.... They could always be found in the green valley by the stream.
