Hello everyone;

I wanted to let all of you know that I'm back to about 50% of

helping others online. I've been away for some time due in part to

all the recent surgeries, complications with some of my medications

and some personal problems that I won't get into at this time or in

the future.

In the past I've always told everyone and anyone that has ever

requested help or assistance that I would respond to their

correspondence within 24-72 hrs. Now with all of the new issues I

will be addressing all correspondences as follows; Once I receive an

e-mail and request for assistance I will respond to your concerns

within 5 to 7 business days.

During my recent hospital stay, I did find out that I have been

Dx'ed with a new condtion to add insult to injury, the condition is

called (OCPD)or Obsessive Complusive Personality Disorder. I will be

looking into if there is a treatment plan that my providers wish me

to follow.

In closing, I wish to sincerely thank each of you for respecting my

request to have some time to myself and to adjust to the new and very

complicated issues that I have and my family are now trying to adjust

to over time. I will be looking forward to hearing from each of you

in the near future and welcome all of your e-mails and

correspondences in the near future.

Sincerely & Respectfully;

Hi ,

It is totally impossible to understand how much this affects the

lives of your family and especially your daughter. It must be so

tough... I really hope that she can do the behavioral therapy at some

point, as I have understood that is the only way to get real control

over OCD. Am I right? I have just watched some TV documentaries about

it... It must be awful how it triggers anxiety if things aren't just

right... I am glad that the medication does help her some... :)

Earlier I was on the board of the local pso. assoc. branch with a

lady who I suspect has OCD. She would avoid a lot of tasks all the

time, said that she could not do it and it was so much easier for us

others. But when we did something, she was never happy with it. A

simple letter would have to be changed 25 times, until we finally

ended up saying " enough " ... I write things all the time, but never

had a problem with it, but she got so hung up in small details, or it

obviously bothered her a lot. Her behavior also started several

conflicts, which lead to other people quitting, because they just

could not deal with her. So sad... She is really a great lady, but

things just become very difficult when you cooperate with her. I did

not really understand what was going on until I met her cousin when I

was admitted to hospital. She told me that it often was a nightmare

to be around her, and as an example she told about once they were

going to Denmark with her, it is just a 4.5 hour ferry ride which

people here do often to shop cheap tax free food and other things.

Her cousin told me that they had to wait for her 2 hours while she

packed a tiny little backpack for that day trip. She just could not

manage packing the things in the right order, so she kept taking

everything out to start over... I don't know how she is doing now,

she moved away from here... I hope she gets some help, she must have

such a hard time. God knows how things are when she is home...

I agree, I also think that most people have some tendencies to it.

The only thing is that for most of us it does not interfere with our

ability to function, and it does not set off bad anxiety or fears if

we don't do things right. But most of us have some rituals that makes

us feel better and more safe, and I think we get more of them as we

get older too... How many of us doesn't have certain rituals e.g. at

bed time or when we get up in the morning? I even have my standard

routines when I travel and stay at hotels while I am away at

meetings, I guess that they make me feel at home and make me enjoy

late evenings in different hotels rooms away from home... Mine

includes a nice pair of PJ's, something yummy to nibble on, lots of

duvets to make things comfy in a hotel bed, a interior magazine or

two and watching TV in bed... :) I am sure that I am not the only one

who does things like this... My such routines started in the late

80ties, when I started travelling to courses and meetings. Back then

I always travelled with a friend of mine who also volunteered for the

NPF, and we started these routines together, only there were other

elements like lots of giggling and late nights chatting... :)

Take care!!!

Aase Marit :)

Hi ,

I don't know if I ever have " met " you before. I am Aase Marit from

Norway. I have HEDS and some other things too, including Psoriasis

and Psoriatic Arthritis. I have just seen a few posts you made before

and wondered about the URL to your web site, because it had been

interesting to have a look at it...

I just wanted to wish you all the best and I hope that you can get

some help in handling your OCPD. It must be so tough to deal with...

I admire that you use so much time to help others on line. That is

just fantastic!!! You must make such a difference to so many

people!!!! I know a bit about doing such things, and how it can be

really hard work. I am running a national Helpline for people with

Pso/PsoA and I am also the Pres. of the National Psoriasis

Association here. But I am sure not using as much time as you are

doing, I really couldn't have done that... Even if it feels like it

takes all my time sometimes... :) I really love working with this

though... :)

But remember that sometimes you just have to give yourself a break

and take care of yourself, or you may end up not being able to help

others at all... :) So, allowing yourself to take more time replying

and even take a real break if you need to, is really doing the others

a favor too!!! :)

Take care!!!! And again, good luck with your new challenges... :)

Aase Marit :)

Hi, Yea, it sounds like that lady has OCD. I have a bit of trouble when it

comes to writing things too. Not as much as she does, though.

I know exactly how it is to deal with someone with it, and how you all could

just say enough!

I deal with it every day, but I can't stop interacting with my daughter! haha

Yes, you are right that behaivor therapy is needed. It's really hard, and

especially for a teenager. She used to take about 2 hours before she could get

into bed. Now it's down to less than 1/2 hour (I think). At least I don't hear

her doing all that stuff any more.

I'm thinking that after she gets a bit older, maybe she can handle the behaivor

therapy easier.

She does seem less bothered by it all since she's gotten up to her current dose

of meds.

Thanks. It's nice to know that people are at least aware of it. Since you've

seen the documentaries on tv, you can see just how disabling it can be.
