Guest guest
Hi Lynda, So, you are on Prednisone? Interesting! Did the Dr. prescribe it for you? How long have you been taking it? How much are you taking? Appreciate any info, as I am a little concerned about taking it. Didn't get a lot of " good " feed back on it, but I was soooo stiff and sore and getting worst. I clean 2-3 of houses per/week with my sister. I also have many dogs to bath and groom. I just could no longer deal with the pain. So, I broke down and started taking Pred, which I have plenty available to me. I probably do have Osteoarthritis, as my Dr. said. I remember having a X-ray (Chirop) and I had several spurs on my spine and a " wing " on my hip bone that is grinding together. Kind of forgot about this until the other day, brain fog!! LOL Thanks for the encouragement about the Armour. keeps telling me this also, but I am getting impatient! LOL Appreciate any info on the Pred that you can give me. My hubby has Rheumatoid Arthritis. He has not gained a single pound on Prednisone. The Dr's and nurses was amazed. I will probably be the one to gain all the weight. As soon as I am feeling better, I am going to start swimming again, or some kind of exercise. I have it available in my area. I used to go all the time, then just got to tired, and lost interest. It is hard enough to keep up with the things that we have to do. Let me know all about how well you are doing on Pred and how much you are taking. I am taking 2.5 twice a day. Is this to low? I was afraid to take any more then this. I have only been taking this for 3 days now, but I am seeing results. I'm going to the movies today with my friend. So, I need to get busy! Going to just enjoy today! For a change! Thanks Lynda, :-)) Kathy Cytomel att: , This is very interesting. Maybe this is my problem. I have taken Armour for 4 weeks now and I don't see enough, if any, change. Do you remember how long you took the Cytomel before you noticed a improvement? I just started taking a Progesterone cream yesterday, so I don't want to start to many new things to try at one time. I couldn't handle the pain and stiffness anymore, so I broke down and started taking Prednisone. I am feeling much better on it, but the memory and brain fog is not there yet! :-(( Though, I am not to crazy about taking this Pred and don't want to take it for more then a couple of months. I think I have already gained weight on it. :-(( Thanks, Kathy

Guest guest
Kathy, if you can clean 2 or 3 houses a week and groom dogs then consider youself lucky <g> I can't even clean my own house and had to give up my job almost 2 years ago. 5mg pred is the normal low dose for adrenal fatigue but is normally taken in one dose. It lasts for 24 hours so there is no need to split the dose. I don't know why you are under the impression that is for pain at that low dose. It is to support the adrenals which, in time, will help the uptake of thyroid hormone. I have been taking 5mg for about 5 months now but before that I was taking hydrocortisone for about 11 months. My progress is slow even though my blood tests show that my TSH is suppressed and Free T3 and Free T4 is mid range - they need to be higher. I am doing all this with the help and support of this group, my doc doesn't want to know. He does not prescribe pred, I get a supply from a kind soul who I am not prepared to name. Guest guest
Lynda, I didn't really want to complain or get into personal things. Truth is, my sister does most of the hard work. I don't run the sweeper, etc. She does this for me, as I have helped her over the years. And, I have ruined show coats on my dogs, having to cut them down because I didn't have the energy to keep up with all the hair. But, I still refuse to give up that part of my life, as I have gave up so many things that I once enjoyed doing. However, I can see it happening soon, down the road. My " show friends " put to much stress on me. Gotta get to this show, and get that dog finished, etc. They are sometimes CONTROLLING too. I have took the money that I made from house cleaning and paid my friend to come and clean my house! Make since? No! But, at least I got out of the house, away from the men! I am so tired after doing the little bit of cleaning that it hurts to sometimes turn the steering wheel. I do believe that I have Adrenal Fatigue. I had so much stress put on me when my mother died. My father and brother lives with me and my husband. My father thinks that I should stay home and be like June Clever, cook, clean, etc. My mother totally spoiled these men. Like I said, I really don't want to get into this part of my life. All I will say is that my sister was ready to put me in the hospital. Now you know why I don't have a lot of respect for men. At least not the ones that I have had in my life. I am also a very strong person. No matter how sick I am, I will crawl to take care of my dogs. But, when I had the flu, last winter just 2 months before being diagnosed with HypoT, I laid there almost dehydrated before any man came to give me a glass of water! My husband was at work. We had a very serious talk after I got well. In the 31 years that I have been married, only in the last year has my husband started treating me like a person, not a slave. I still can't believe the things that I said. I only wish that I had this " backbone " to me 31 years ago! But, we probably would not be married today! Being Hypo totally changed my personality. My family thinks that I am a mean person. Truth is, I don't let them take advantage of me anymore!! You have no idea what all I went through. It's a wonder I am not in the hospital or dead. I just kept telling myself, who will take care of my pets! I would never leave them. Kathy Re: Pred att: Lynda Hi Lynda, So, you are on Prednisone? Interesting! Did the Dr. prescribe it for you? Guest guest
Kathy, I wasn't criticizing or being personal, just wanted to impress on you that you have to take it slowly. I can totally relate to your " personality change " Truth is, it gets to a certain point where we go into self-preservation mode. I did the same, I had to fight with dh over me giving up my job. In the end I didn't care, just told him I was doing it whether he liked it or not Lynda Re: Pred att: Lynda Lynda, I didn't really want to complain or get into personal things. Guest guest
Oh, I forgot to say that when starting Prednisone, they put my husband on it at a higher dose 3 x's a day and then down to 2 x's and then 1 a day and 7.5 mg. I will start taking 1 a day, but I am going to stay with 1/2 a pill at 2.5 mg. If I am still not feeling well, I might up it to 5, have to wait and see, but I think 2.5 is good for me. Sorry that you are in a lot of pain. You are probably in a lot more then I am. Is all your pain from Adrenal Fatigue, or do you have other issues? I am going to hate to give up this pred if I get to where I am in no pain!! But, maybe by then, the Armour will be working better. I have also started using a Natural Progesterone Cream. I'm hoping this helps with my brain fog. I am postmenopausal. Take care Lynda and thanks for all the info, Kathy Re: Pred att: Lynda Hi Lynda, So, you are on Prednisone? Interesting!
