Guest guest
where in Tx are you? I am in Fort Worth - if you are nearby perhaps I can make a recommendation Shari a little update. Hi guys. Well, just to refresh your memory, I had mammo and sono last wk with no signs of anything. (well sono tech saw something for a sec but couldn't find it again...lol). So, I went to see my doc yesterday and of course lump is still there, and pain is getting worse. So he's sending me to breast surgeon. I went to make appt, and the first avail. isn't until dec 12th. The lady scheduling them told me, " ma'am, they're booked until mid December. " Then she just stood there like she was expecting me to say 'Well, never mind then. " . Lol. I was like, ok, then schedule me for first available please. After she did I made a comment about how a month seems like such a long time. She's like, " Well, your doc put here that it should be wtihin the next month so it probably isn't that serious. Besided, we don't have that many breast surgeons around here. " Alrighty then. So anyway, I'm thankful to have a proactive doctor, but I think his staff needs some education. I suppose if they don't have an earlier appt there's nothing I can do, but man. The pain in my boob is enough to put me over the edge. My pcp doesn't think it's anything more than fibrocycstic disease, but I'm not confident with anything until they get this thing out of me. Or biopsy or whatever. What a long wait ahead. Thanks for letting me vent. in TX

Guest guest
- Hi ....first off good luck with your surgery and the outcome...I also had the same experience as you...i had such a painful lump at the 6 o'clock position in my right breast that also sent me over the edge!! I called told the doc about it went and saw him 2 weeks later...he said oh its probably nothing cuz cancers dont " usually " hurt..he sent me to get a mammogram and a sonogram..that appt was 2 weeks later once again...went in there got it done and was in tears cuz the pain was so bad at the time..the radiologist then said ok lets just take a biopsy while your here so you dont have to have this hanging over your head (bless him for doing that!) 4 days later i was called...my regular doc said its benign but the radiologist says it should come out since its causing you so much distress...so tried to get an appt with a surgeon...3 weeks later i go in...first available slot i suppose cuz of the non urgency of it according to my doctor...well low and behold i was told i have invasive ductal carcinoma..2.4 cm solid lump...went in for node removal they came back negative..had to go in for clear margins the following week..and here i am 14 radiation treatments to go out of 38...I am just telling you my story not to scare you or make you think yours is anything but a fibroid...please carry thru with that appt. better safe then sorry...i was on an emotional rollercoaster for a months..take care....kassy -- In breastcancer2 , " " wrote: > > Hi guys. Guest guest
Hi Shari. Thank you. I live in Killeen. Husband has scott and white, so I'll be going to scott n white hospital in Temple. I have heard good things about it. Thank you much for the thought. I suppose if this doc doesn't do anything about the situation I may take you up on that. I moved here from Austin 1.5 years ago and it seems like things are so much quicker there with lots of options. Thanks again. > > where in Tx are you? > > I am in Fort Worth - if you are nearby perhaps I can make a recommendation > > Shari >

Guest guest
Oh - a month! I hear ya - that seems like forever to wait. Your primary can't recommend someone who can take you earlier?? Especially since you're in so much pain from it. Seems unfair to me! Hugs! and hang in there! Ellen > > Hi guys. Guest guest
Kassy - what a nightmare you had to go through - just to get treated. Man oh man - that makes me so mad! What about all the people who do not act as their own advocates? How many just take the Doctor's word for " it's probably nothing " . Geezzzzzzz. So glad that you were persistant. My SIL always tells me " the squeeky wheel get's the grease " , and I guess she's right. Hugs! Ellen > > > > Hi guys. Guest guest
Thank you Kassy for telling me your story. All of it is scary, but hearing what others have experienced is comforting at the same time. I'm truly thankful for this list to see the strength, courage, and hope that's out there. Otherwise we'd be all alone. Thanks again and I'll keep you posted.

Guest guest
Thank you Ellen. I think the hardest part really is just waiting, as I'm certain you can relate. It's almost like they strap us into a roller coaster and say, " HANG ON!! " I just feel fortunate to have a pro active doc. I was ready to pull teeth to get an appt with breast surgeon when I went in. Since I didn't even have to ask made it all seem that much easier. Take care. > > Oh - a month! I hear ya - that seems like forever to wait. > Your primary can't recommend someone who can take you earlier?? > Especially since you're in so much pain from it. Seems unfair to > me! > > Hugs! and hang in there! > > Ellen---

Guest guest
Thank you nne. I suppose I can tolerate the pain. It's the emotions that are hard to swallow. My husband has been great thus far luckily. He makes me laugh when I'm really down. He says I just need a tune up and I'll be fine. hehe > > , > I am sorry to hear you are in such pain. I would insist on some sort of pain med while you wait for your appt. A month is a long time. I will keep you in my prayers. > Hugs > nne >

Guest guest
Irma, thanks that's a great idea. It can't hurt to call up there and see if anyone cancels. I think I'm going to do that. Thx again. > > , > > I was also told I had to wait a month for an appt. but > I told them if anyone cancels an appt to please call > me. I hung up and decided I was going to call everyday > and ask. I did that for about 1 week and then during > my daily call I stressed to the lady that answered how > I've been so stressed waiting and I apologized for > calling everyday but I was scared and was praying that > someone would cancel. The lady said she understood and > put me on hold, within 2 hours I was at the office > seeing my surgeon. I strongly advise you to be > persistent and continue calling to check for any > cancellations. Tell them that you are in pain and even > though your dr. doesn't think its serious your the one > in pain not your dr. I also agree with nne, you > should get some pain meds. > I will have you in my thoughts and prayers. > > Irma >
