Guest guest
I was wondering if you could suggest some good sites to look into energy work through? I have been followign your posts and will admit you have me more than curious about it all. My boyfriend is already interested in energy work and things along that line so I would like to try it to see if I can get some pain management from it. Any advice would be great ---------------------- I know sites that give info on classes you can take. I know sites that give overview articles on alot of the topics. I don't know any sites that give meaningful instructions. Even energy workers have an element of greed in their souls - they like to sell books and market classes. Me? I would just give it all away free. I guess maybe I am starting to adopt the Native American approach to the land with some of this ... it is something inherent in all of us. It is part of our birthright as human beings. Something tells me you are more interested in being " able to do " than just reading about it on the internet. So - I do know of a number of books that give good how-to instructions, along with general info. If you have been following my posts you know that I didn't just step into this as an academic exercise. You also know that I don't just believe that it works - I KNOW that it works. If you are serious about learning how to do some of this for yourself for your own pain management, my very first recommendation is to pick up a copy of " Acupressure's Potent Points " by Gach. It costs about $20 new or $10 used through amazon.com. It is easy to use and in my opinion the best book on the subject for someone just starting out. There are other more advanced, and therefore more effective, ways to do acupressure. They are not, however, as easy to just pick up and run with without taking a class or two if you are starting with zero background in it. I will put Gach in perspective for you. That is the book I used to self-teach myself acupressure starting in May of 2002. At the time, I had zero background in energy work. Yes, I had graduated from massage school by then but I had not taken anything in energetic modalities. Since then, I have acquired roughly 90 books related to various aspects of energy medicine (over two dozen on acupressure alone) and have piled up over 300 hours in continuing education classes specifically related to energetic modalities including, acupressure, polarity, reiki, shiatsu, therapeutic touch, touch for health, chi nei tsang, and Thai massage. You can toss in myofascial release, lymphatic drainage and cranialsacral on top of that 300 hours if you choose to recognize them as energetic modalities as well. I personally do but they are over and above the 300 hours. Given all of that, Gach remains my number one quick reference book. It is ALWAYS the first one I check when something comes up. Granted, I may end up doing something different, like polarity or a more advanced Jin Shin Do routine. But for quick reference, Gach is what I grab. The book is that good. My second recommendation is to go back over my posts where I give instructions on using the polarity X technique and to try using that on yourself. Once you have played around with some of it and develop the ability to actually feel the energy, then I can start walking you through some more advanced drills. How long does it take to feel it? It all depends. Some of them on the list have felt it immediately. Others are still trying, although I suspect in some cases they are actually feeling it but don't realize it. Now, if your boyfriend is a typical male, he probably suffers from the " but how does it work? " syndrome. The best book to get into that aspect is " Energy Medicine - The Scientific Basis " by Oschman. Depending where you get it, it runs about $70 new. I haven't checked lately to see if amazon has any listed used. Beyond this, if you can give me a better handle on where your interests lie with this, I can put together a more detailed book selection list for you. Also, for what it is worth, I have mentioned that I will be bouncing around the country in the RV this year. We had planned on taking our first trip of the year down thru California, Nevada and the southwest in March. My broken ribs and a follow up eye appointment for my wife's cataract surgery screwed those plans to the floor. Our second trip was going to be the Dakotas in April. " Dry road syndrome " last month and the resulting " Thou Shalt Not Speed " class that she is scheduled to take the middle of April whacked those plans. Our plans now call for a pretty much all over the lower 48 in June, July and August. As I have mentioned in the past, those plans include stopping to say " HI, " doing demos, and working on as many people on the list who want me to as I can work in. Let me know if you want to be included, and if so, where you will be hanging out during the summer.

Guest guest
Barb, Thanks, honey. I am just sort of numb right now. Seems like all I do is pee in cups, hold out my arm to be poked, then the other arm, then pee again. Doesn't seem like there could be much more "there" in there, if you get my drift. LOL How are you holding up, and did you get that bouncing problem fixed? Love you, MM
