Guest guest
Hi , If someone was going to burn down the Hermosa house, causing your parents to sell the lot anyway, too bad it happened 3 years ago and not recently... with the current market, I bet they could have easily gotten $1 million for the empty lot nowadays! I'm familiar with Cypress... it is very close to Cerritos where I grew up, and in fact, my mom's first teaching assignment was for the Cypress School District. It's an extra-small world... my husband also went to Mira Costa. We are going to see their spring musical (Into the Woods) this weekend. was very active in drama when he went there (wanted to be an actor) so we often go see their plays. I'm always amazed at how professional they are. Did you know Mira Costa is undergoing extensive construction right now? The school is going to be beautiful when it is all done. I think they are even putting in an indoor pool. I worked there doing speech therapy for their summer school for 3 summers several years ago as a change of pace from my normal district, which is Lawndale. I know I'm familiar with Juniper, but can't recall off the top of my head what part of Torrance it is in. How funny to have this list that has members from all over the world and be able to make a connection in my own backyard. Have any of your family members in this area been diagnosed? Let me know the next time you come down to visit your family. I'd love to get together and meet you in person.
Guest guest
Hi, What year did your husband graduate? I graduated in 1980. I was in the band. We had an indoor pool back then. I used to go swimming in it when I was small for 50 cents during the summer. I guess they took it out cause it was so old. I'm glad to hear they are fixing the school up. After I graduated, it went down hill fast. The band was amazing up until the last year I was there, when the old band director retired. Then, I heard it was practically non-existent. I heard stories of the school kinda going into a funk for a while. From what I hear now, things are looking up again. I had friends in drama. Tell me when your husband graduated, and then maybe we'll find out we know some of the same people. Juniper is near the mall. East of it. My dad says the same exact thing about his house. If that kid had waited another few years, dad would have made lots more money. But, he probably would have died from the experience. As it is, he almost did. My mom too. It was an horrible experience. The boy who burned it is very sick. My parents really liked him and his sister, and he used to talk with them all the time, and my parents got them presents on holidays. It came as a huge shock to us all. Believe it or not, his father is a fire chief! The boy lived with his mom next door to my parents, and his father lived across the street. Very volatile relationships going on in that family. After the fire, the police department told my parents that they have a very bad reputation, and they should have told people to stay away from them earlier. Now, they still live there, and all the neighbors - many of whom have been there my whole life - are scared to death of them. Luckily, my parents were at their Cypress house when he burned it. 10:00am on a Sunday morning. My mom always wanted to be in Cypress on Sunday cause she liked her church there better than the one in Hermosa we went to my whole life. None of my family has been dx'd. My parents aren't cooperative with the whole thing. My dad says it sounds like EDS has every symptom in the world. He's very skeptical, and he doesn't want to feel responsible for me and my kids health. I don't really talk to him about it any more, cause it upsets him too much, and he's very fragile. It's not worth upsetting him about it, so I just avoid talking to him about it. But, I know my sister has some symptoms, and my niece most definitely has it, although she hasn't explored it at all. She just keeps dislocating joints, and putting them back in herself, and suffering with the pain. She doesn't have medical insurance, or what she has is minimal, so she doesn't go to the dr unless it's an emergency. Maybe one day, she'll have to face the facts. My niece lives out by Bakersfield now. She grew up in Redondo. I don't know when we'll be back down there. I sure would like to go this summer, but I don't think we will. If we do, and when we do, I'll let you know. It would be fun to meet you! Hugs,
