Thanks, Deb, I DO appreciate your input! I don't have anything against

chiropractors, and was willing to give it a try.but if I don't have the

support at home, and can't talk about it, then I feel it won't work at all.

AND, I know I need to fully BELIEVE in the treatment; and from talking with

Mike, You and a few others, it sounds as though this one was typical and was

just going to try to string me along. Perhaps someone else would have been

different, I don't know. I have now decided to go to a licensed MT that

Mike found that has training in cranial sacral therapy. My husband will be

going with me, so that hopefully, he can support the treatment I get. To

me, to have the support at home, is crucial to me getting better. I was

very angry with my husband for not supporting the chiropractor, but only

because I felt he didn't approach it with an open mind. He's had no prior

history with one. When I heard from Mike, who has had history with one, it

helped me to make the decision. I thought if my husband would go with me

and see what's done, that he would be more willing to support something he

doesn't know anything about. I was perhaps too rough on Mike (my husband),

but there was a reason, and that's a whole long, different story, and I

didn't mean to get into " personal " stuff here anyway, but it was part of

what was going on. I hope I haven't made anyone uncomfortable.but I needed

help, and I always turn to my family for help - which would be my husband,

my parents and children, and all of YOU! So thanks for putting up with my

war story. I will keep you updated as to how the new treatment plan goes.

I probably doesn't help that I'm in quite a bit of pain, and it's making me

bitchy (sorry for the bad language, but it's the truth).

Oh gosh Lana...

Any time you need to vent ... that is what we are here for ... if you can't

vent and ask questions here... " where everyone knows your name " ... than where

can you? Besides, what single person or group of persons do you know that has

had so much **RELATED*** medical experiences good and bad? LOL!

About your pain ... you should be able to get that reasonably under control

with pain meds massage and warm soaks. Are you being brave and not medication

like you should???? Hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm??????

Hang in there.. love, Debbi

Hi Deb,

Thanks so much girlfriend! It's been kinda hard lately, and I so appreciate

all my great friends on this list! :-)

No, I'm not being brave in the least! I am taking all the medications I

should be taking. I have Ultram, which I use for pain, and Vioxx, plus the

Trazadone and Axert. I haven't had to use the Axert yet, so I do hope it

works. I'm calling Betty , who Mike said is the most qualified in the

Omaha area, tomorrow to see when I can get in. Unfortunately, even with the

meds, the pain isn't going away in my neck and lower back, so I hope she can

help. Sitting at the computer is NOT good at all! I'm trying to keep it

down.

If you have any other suggestions, I'm open to hearing them all! :-) Any

for getting along with husbands? LOL! Actually, we are fine, now. I did

come right out and tell him, though, that I felt he wasn't supporting me

very well right now, and that I get support from the list. He has acted

jealous of the list a couple times. I told him if he could try to support

me more, that it would help me a great deal right now. He has started. He

got online and printed out a lot of info on back pain, etc. He's going to

the appointment with me - I hope that's not a mistake, but I want him to

support who I go to so that I can talk about it.

Thanks for being here!

Hi Lana,

I hope that this new appointment goes well. I have not taken MIke on many

appts at all but I did find when he went with me to check me into NIH, to

Chicago

for the eval. and for the Diamond Headache Clinic, it REALLLLY made a

difference because he had no earthly idea what as going on!

Hope it all goes well and I'll be thinking about ya, gurl!!

I am sure it will be nothing but good for the both of you. Having him hear

the plan and ask questions for himself is very empowering. Perhaps he fells a

bit helpless right now. Men withdraw you know ... pretend that it will get

better if they just back away... " going into their cave " you know! LOL! But it

surely is true.

I think when he sees how much pain you are in when she does the exam will be

good too. And about the exam... I have to say that until recently I have been

super proud of being " brave " not saying it hurts when it really does. My

threshold of pain is really REALLY, REALLY high so someone's 9 is my 2. My 4 is

someone's 24. Since I learned that I am not shy of saying when it hurts. My

suggestion would be to tell her your pain using the pain scale (which is now

universal) but adjust it to YOU if you too have a high threshold of pain. If

you don't have it I think I can find it for you. You have lived with pain so

long that your scale is a bit off. Medications can make it false too. I would

not wish it on anyone but if you didn't take anything before you went it

would show her a true read. If you do take your meds tell her what you took

that

day and what you took the 2 days before so that your pain levels will be true

with appropriate adjustments for medication. Tell her if you have a low or

high threshold of pain that will clue her in too.

What I am saying is that you should hold NOTHING back. I know she is not a

pain specialist (which this advice would be most appropriate) but she too needs

to know not only the pain levels but where the pain is and at what level that

particular area is painful. Try to really focus so that you can avoid saying

" it hurts everywhere " or " it hurts in my neck and back " Try to be specific.

Now ... all that said, you more than likely know all this stuff but I could

not resist saying it just in case ... and if there are others on the list that

might want to take this with a grain of salt.

Love you Lana!

Take care of yourself.

:)

Thanks Deb! I would have not thought of the above, so that does

really help! Duh! I just don't go to the doctor and complain a

whole lot, and it's the first time for an LMT. I'm very interested

to see what/how she does. I'll have to report to Mike (list Mike) on

it all, as he's been so helpful and supportive as well.

Thanks again, Deb! Love you too!!!
