Guest guest
I guess my angry note provoked some good thoughts. Although the guy that says we should leave politics to the politicians has a lot to learn about politics. If the people who protested the Vietnam War had left politics to the politicians, we would still be fighting that war. The Post Office doesn't actually care if you put things in mailboxes. However, if you are driving around getting in the way of a mailman, he will probably pull all your notes out and send you a bill for the postage. I did that to a politician once when I was a rural carrier. My original question on putting doctors in jail with criminal complaints still has not been answered as I am still waiting for responses from 2 lawyers that I queried on this. Attorney Generals would have to take this action and we would have to pressure them to do it. The most effective way to pressure them would be through the press but that is a tough assignment. I did have a piece published on Autism last year in the New Hampshire paper in which I was allowed to allude to the probability that mercury has caused the autism. I had to temper my words to keep the editor happy and was forced to remove my comments about Judd Gregg who had been endorsed by the newspaper. I suppose, however, that one could buy ad space and write whatever they wanted. The big thing I think we need to work on is to overturn the statute of limitations under VICP and, perhaps, blow up VICP entirely. To accomplish this, we need publicity. We probably need a major demonstration in D.C. with major media coverage. I don't know how big this power of one and a half thing is going to be in D.C.. Isn't that happening in April? Is that the same thing where Dan Marino is going to throw a football as far as he can with a bunch of pictures of autistic kids lined up for 300 yards or something? These are the things we need and some of it is happening. Will Ralph Nader take a stance for our position? If he did, I might bother to vote. There certainly is no point to voting for a mainstream politician. All it gets you is jury duty.
Guest guest
Although I think the protests played a role in ending the Vietnam War, the turning point was the media coverage(remember the little girl running naked down the road after her village had been bombed?). The people in our country could not stomach that. So, the powers that be learned to censor the pics so that all we see of our wars now are aerial views of smart bombs. The point being that you are right about the media coverage. The problem is that the media are loath to touch it because it would directly hurt the advertising from pharmaceuticals. And it is alot with the direct advertising of RX drugs now. I intend to find out from Nader's organization what his position is on this topic. It is right up his alley(remember the Ford Pinto?) I would love to see all 3000 members of this group support him should he decide to take a stand on our behalf. It would be some publicity although the media rarely covers him due to his threat to the status quo in this country. But wouldn't it be great if he did? I will post a response as soon as I am able to get it to this group. By the way, your email motivated me because you were able to express all the anger that I feel as well. > I guess my angry note provoked some good thoughts. Guest guest
, Dan Burton has actually proposed a complete revised edition of the NVICP www.house.gov type HR 1349 in the bill searching thing. I am a state and regional representative for Unlocking Autism, and the conference in DC is going to be huge. I have made appointments with some of the congressional representatives from Ohio and part of my plea to them will be to support HR 1349. However I will also be addressing a lot of other concerns such as educational, transition, and adult issues. Jane Best Jr <bettwice33@...> wrote: I guess my angry note provoked some good thoughts.
