Hi Caro, I was DX with fibro breasts when I was 15. I've had the

yearly( or more) " squish " test ever since. I'm 50 now. I also had

Fibroids in the uterus. Hysterecomy in 2000. I was alway told to

avoid Caffine. I ignored the advise for years, but I have to say

when I did finally listen, the breast pain decreased allot. Had I

stopped taking in Caffine years before, I can't say if it would have

helped the fibroids in the uterus or not. I was told at 15 I was in

a high risk group to have breast cancer, well, I have scares year

after year, but so far all is well.

Hi,

I have fibroids in the breasts. So does . My mom has them too. But,

never had any in the uterus.

I was always told to limit caffeine.

That's not easy to do!

But, my mom started taking large doses of vitamin E, and they have almost

disappeared. Her dr couldn't believe it.

They get worse around period time. Since I had my hysterectomy, but kept my

ovaries, I still get that " flare up " .

It's pretty painful just to touch them.

One more thing -

My Gyn has me get a mamogram every single year. I have since I was about 32

years old. This is important, because with all those lumps, it may be hard to

distinguish between the fibroids and a sinister lump.

Do you get a mamogram every year? If not, you should

start!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(and, they hurt more with the fibroids - cause they squish your boob so tight in

that machine, and with the lumps - well - OUCH!!!!)

Hugs,

Vitamin E is great for fibroids, but it is also a blood thinner, so watch

for an increase in bruising. I noticed a definite increase in bruising when

I was taking vitamin E. It has many benefits, but just don't over do it.

You should NEVER take vitamin E if you take other blood thinners unless your

doctor has given express orders to do so. Also, you should not take more

than 800-1200 IU per day of vitamin E because of the blood thinning effect.

If you take vitamin E long-term, you may want to consider adding vitamin K

to off-set the blood thinning, but you MUST CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR on this.

I know we all know this already, but I'm going to say it again. Be SURE

your doctor knows ALL your vitamins and supplements. Some vitamins and

supplements don't mix well with medications, so you need to be sure that

your doctor knows everything you're taking so that he/she can help you avoid

harmful interactions. It's also a good idea to check with your pharmacist

about interactions and to own a good drug interaction book.

Yes, I'm sorry, I was talking about MY lumps - I TOTALLY agree with

Deb and here! Sometimes they cannot tell what it is until an

ultra sound is done, so no matter what, do not fail to go for your

mamo and point out any differences to the doctor!

Thanks Barb.

I didn't know that. I should ask my mom if she's still taking all that vitamin

E.

I'll tell her about the blood thining thing.

I do have a problem with taking vitamins. It affects the absorbsion of my med.

So, I would like to take multi vitamins, vitamin C, like Dr Byers told me to,

and glucosamine/chondroitin, but I'm afraid of it interfering with my pain meds,

which aren't doing the trick as it is.

Any suggestions?

Right. Make sure you get it checked out. I once thought I had a lump, but it

was the fibroids.

That's why I get a mamogram every year.

And, when you get a mamogram, they should show you a fake boob with different

lumps in it, so you can feel what the difference is.

But, if you aren't sure, go to the dr.

The sooner you catch a bad lump, the better the outcome. If you catch it right

away, they can cure just about every time.
