Guest guest
I just wanted to put in my 2 cents about Re's vs. Ob/gyns. Just to take everyone's credentials with a grain of salt and actually check out their philosophies and experiences as well before you write off a dr. with " just " their MD. And also not blindly take the advice of an RE, just because they are supposedly the best we've got. In my case I had 5 RE's to pick from at the local teaching hospital and although one of them " loved doing myos " , the nurses all told me no one was particularily good at them, they did convert to hysts (remember this is the IVF place....these are women there for pregancies!!). So I went out of my area to see an Ob/gyn who had the philosophy of uterus saving and a lot of myo experience. With a zero conversion rate too. My partner is in her last cycle of IVF at this time and we are approaching the end of our potential childbearing years. She just had her 5th miscarriage since the birth of our daughter 2.5 yrs ago. (I had not tried due to the football sized fibroid in my uterus) After seeing no heartbeat on the ultrasound screen yesterday (again---) her RE looked at me and said...how old are you.....would you like to try next? Unfortuantely, I told her I am also 43 and so therefore I can't do IVF (its mandated covered by insurance in Massachusetts, but the cut off is 42, then self pay.) However I told her, I'm recovering from my myo 2 weeks ago.....so maybe I will start thinking about it, dispite the fact all these miscarriages that my partner has suffered are because of OLD EGGS. and the RE said....who did your myo? and I said, well I went to the Boston area actually because it was a pretty big fibroid and everyone locally that I consulted with said get a hyst,....and she said....well at 43, why didnt you just have a hyst??? AS we are miscarrying in front of her!!!!! I told her, we are having a miscarrige right now and you think I should just give up all HOPE????????? I told her, my uterus wasnt causing me any problems, my fibroid was and that's all I needed to come out. so, I guess the point is " NOT all Re's may be sensitive, either!!!!!
