Guest guest
-------Original Message------- That would make one ask if Tonia goes to another hospital with same symptoms, needing same med as before, would you Tonia, be likely to get the med going to another hospital or do you know? Okay, enough from me, just wanted you to know how Virginia is where family lives, maybe all should move to Virginia Beach?!!! Take care all Hugs JoAnn =============================================================== JoAnn, It doesn't matter which hospital that I go to.....I can't get any help from any that I go to. I've gone to a total of 8 different hospital Emergency Rooms since I got injured on 10-11-2000.....and I've been treated like $h!t at 7 of those 8 ERs. This last one, that just told me that they can't give any Schedule 2 Narcotics to anyone with Chronic Pain, is the nicest ER I've been to. At least 3/4 of the Doctors and Nurses treat me like I am an actual person, not a druggie when I list what medications I am on. out of 4 different doctors that I have seen there in the ER, 3 of them has treated me like a normal person. only 1 has treated me like a druggy, and once I reported her, I was apologized to immediately! But, when you are on Medicaid, if you are at one hospital, and if they won't give you a shot of Narcotic Pain Killer and you leave there and go straight to another ER......YOU IMMEDIATELY LOSE your medicaid because that is considered Doctor Shopping/Drug Shopping. Like a couple of months ago.....I went to see my regular doctor because I had a sinus infection (like last winter, around March this year), and he is only 26 miles from me. The Pharmacy I got my Pain Meds at was 60 miles from me, but I got my antidepressants at a pharmacy only 20 miles from me. So, when I went to my regular doctor to get the antibiotic for the sinus infection, I went to the pharmacy that was only 20 miles away to get it filled instead of where I got my Pain Meds filled an hour drive away. I got papers in the mail a few days later from Iowa Medicaid, accusing me of Doctor shopping and Pharmacy Shopping because I had my pain doctor prescribe my meds in Feb, but a few days later I committed myself a week later and the Psychiatrist switched my meds and wrote me out all new prescriptions like 9 days after I had just filled the others. They said that I could only have 1 doctor writing out the prescriptions for the meds.....not 2. Only one doctor could write prescriptions for Narcotic Pain Meds, Only one doctor could write prescriptions for anti-seizure medications, only one doctor could write prescriptions for antidepressants, muscle relaxers, sleeping pills, so on. And, because I committed myself 6 days after I had just filled the prescriptions that my Pain doctor had written, and refilled new prescriptions 9 days after I had them filled.......They accused me of Doctor shopping. THEN, because I had Filled a prescription at a pharmacy close to home instead of driving an extra 40 miles out of my way (that I didn't have the money to get gas for), they accused me of Pharmacy shopping also. I almost lost my medicaid because of all of that bull. I also almost lost my Pain Doctor because of the crap. I was put on "Probation" with Medicaid......I could only have 1 doctor write prescriptions for me, I could only get them filled at one pharmacy. I am not allowed to get any prescriptions filled any earlier than what the date says on the prescription, no matter what, no excuses. If the prescription says 12-14-2004, That is exactly what it means. Well, didn't mean to write a novel here.......but, that was the only way I could explain it.
