There is no way to avoid the pain completely, but we can find ways to cope, to become stronger, and, eventually, to find peace. Dealing with death is a process we all must endure at some time in our life. When we receive the notice of the death of a loved one, the words crush our hearts and take our breath away. One message cannot stand on its own as memories and thoughts rush through our minds in a flurry of emotion. If the person was extremely close to us, we may even feel anger at the person for leaving us alone to face the world. In all walks of life, people have devised ways to help them cope with the inevitability and finality of death. In all lifestyles, talking is the best way to open your heart and allow the grief to subside. Talking releases the emotions; it clears space in your heart and mind for a touch of joy to enter your life. If someone you know has suffered a loss, the best thing you can do for that person is to listen. Face the person, don’t look away, and give them your full attention. You did not cause the tears they shed; neither did you cause the pain they are feeling. The tears make the pain more visible to you, but you did not give them the pain. It was already there. When they cry, you may feel helpless and not know what to do. Just remember, you don't need to do a thing, just be there for them. Allow their tears to flow and it will help them to heal. You need not speak, but do not turn away. Your silence as they cry is all they need. Be patient and do not fear. Listening with your heart to what they feel relieves their pain; for when the tears can freely come and go, their heart will become lighter in spirit. I believe when we have learned all the lessons we were sent to Earth to learn, we are allowed to shed our physical body and return in spirit. Our body imprisons our soul the way a cocoon encloses the future butterfly. At the time of our physical death, we will be free of pain, free of fears and free of worries. We will be as a beautiful butterfly returning home to God. The most important thing for you to remember is you are never alone. There are people who can help you cope with your grief as deal with it you must. For life goes on and you will continue to grow and to sing, to love and to dance, even after your loved one has parted. We cannot avoid the pain death brings into our life, but we can choose to not allow that pain to overwhelm us to the point of a lifeless non-existence. © May 2001 “Rion” Sewell On the Other Side of Nowhere On the other side of nowhere, there is a place I go to rest of rambling streams and grassy fields with trees of lofty height. As I walk beneath the boughs of oak along a hidden path, the wind sings out and calls my name in soft sweet undertones. A lustrous pearl in a velvet sky, the moon whispers to the dove on high as gracefully she glides in gentle flight and sings a verse in song. Effervescent moonlight tumbles feather-light in soft hushed tones of nimble flight on a gentle breeze of cool, sweet air whispering in a kaleidoscope of silence. Take my hand, come walk with me .. let me join my soul with yours so we may be as one tonight and dream entwined forever more. My body, once so tired and worn, is now glowing with new life and memories, that tore the soul, stay quiet through the night. Moonbeams dancing among the clouds, paint a silver heaven with stars as gifts for those who care to share their heart and souls. On the other side of nowhere, all is peaceful and serene as stillness heals mind-numbing pain, allowing life to bloom again. © May 1999 " Rion " Sewell Set Free Will you walk beside me, hand in hand, and stand in the sun one last time? Will you caress my cheek, as you were oft to do, and look into my eyes? It is time for us to depart and to tarry no more, but please show me that you still care. Hand in hand, we will slowly walk, under a night sky filled with stars. Pull me back for one last look, one fleeting caress, one sweet kiss before you leave me here standing alone against the world. Knowing full well our time here on earth is fleeting and short, Let me say I have loved with a passion .. sweet and pure. Give me that at least, before you tear my heart from my soul as you leave. Let me dream awhile longer, before the harsh reality of life takes over and I must walk alone in a world that no longer holds your soul. Take my hand and softly place a kiss in the palm to keep me forever safe from harm. Fight hard my friend, try to stay here with me, for I love you greatly still, but when your will falters, and the pain becomes too great ... I will release you from a long ago promise to never leave and will bid you a fond, but tearful, farewell. © November 1998 " Rion " Sewell Quiet Softness A stillness surrounds me like a silken cloak, wrapping my soul in peace and tranquility. A passion for life lying dormant and fallow, awakens and whisperings of excitement bring joy to my heart. Tormenting thoughts and memories gone bad are pushed into the recesses of a fragile mind. An essence of freshness beguiles the jaded spirit and once again the eyes look upon life afresh. Gardens of flowers, dipping their heads in awe of the sun, freshen the day with the sweet attar of morning. Irridescent feathers flit amongst dew softened hedges and butterflies float on the sun warmed breeze. Holding these wondrous sights tight to my soul, I cherish the serenity that has found my heart. The tranquility of nature has entered my life as I allow myself to drift with the tide of time. © November 1999 " Rion " Sewell From the Depths ... Inspired by Life .. The body is ... battered and broken, bleeding and bruised, attacked and assaulted, raped and ruined by a man of cruel intent. .. The mind is ... confused and upset, crushed and defeated, vacant and senseless, shocked and appalled ... all because of a thoughtless act. .. The soul is ... tormented and tortured, in anguish and agony. Trust is broken .. confidence damaged .. Her Faith in the Lord destroyed. .. The woman is ... healed and made happy and returned to health. Her mind is ... composed and serene, tranquil and at peace. Her soul is ... restored and renewed, trust is regained .. all because of the Lord. .. Oh, Lord .... You are the guardian of my soul with You living within my heart, I am whole. .. © October 1998 " Rion " Sewell Hugs, Deanna " The LUPIES Store " Come check out our store... http://www.cafepress.com/thelupies " The LUPIES Web Page " http://www.itzarion.com/lupusgroup.html " The LUPIES online photo albums!
