Guest guest
We use Culturelle, primarily, but my son's gut was better than most since he's older, and we did GFCF for two years before chelating. Guest guest
Perhaps Andy can help answer the question on NAC and calcium interference. I have not heard of that. Sorry I can't explain the whole sulfation thing either. I have been learning by bits and pieces myself. Most of the information I found on the web drowns you in info that is too deep to absorb. Like never ending pages of information. I usually take a note and move to another site. I found helpful guides in Andy's book and in a few amino acid books I bought. That is a good start. Also this group is interesting and you can get helpful answers to your questions from the person running this board also. sulfurstories/ I found myself looking more into the sulfur information because every symptom I had that I did a search for on the net had something to do with the sulfur pathway being disturbed. For instance, yeast. Very bad memory, included Alzheimer, MS. Neuralgia. CFS. IBS. Depression and anxiety. When I first came on this list NAC was discussed allot and that is when I think I learned that many persons need this when chelating with ALA. the full spelling is N-Acetyl-Cysteine. The search on doesn't work and it is difficult to pull up old information. Perhaps it needs discussed by people who know more, and how to explain it again. Andy's book mentions those persons who would do well on it and those who wouldn't. Also gives you some idea on these wacky liver phases. I don't have links. I did save a few web pages. One site I think is called enzymestuff.com. I am at a disadvantage to send a link because my address bar disappeared. If that link does work click on the Methylation link. Long page of easy to understand information. Mentions the importance on including the cofactors and what they are. Guest guest
I was able to pull the page up, it is enzymestuff.com and if you click the words that says " Related Topics/Nutrients " at the top of the page you will go to another page with different links on the side. That is where you will find the Methylation link. This whole site is very informative. Especially begining with using enzymes and understanding how they in turn produce our amino acids. Of course sometimes we have to supplement with amino acids anyway. I hope that page helps. Guest guest
Carolyn, I am glad you found the information! You see why it isn't easy to explain? Really complex but little by little you begin to put the pieces together. That is a fantastic site for us commoners. Now read what I posted on the liver phases. I read some information in my amino acid books but I keep getting lost. It is important to understand liver phase function and how and when we detox stuff. I searched on the net for some better explanation than my book but found this pamphlet that describes it best. Now it is that methlyation pathway that is a very important detox pathway. Andy's book mentions how both phases could be disrupted. Either running to fast or too slow. It can mean something very specific or each person because it is our detox process. It would be nice if you can get one of those liver phases testing done. Will stop some guess work. I found a new health center and want to go there to see what they can tell me about mine. I already guessed but I could use some more help. Guest guest
The group will have to jump in here to help you out with those questions. It seemes we are opposit. I did read something last year on it and I did forget. If I find any thing I'll post. Meanwhile......Group? Guest guest
I did question you about MSM. Some people can take it and some can't. But I wanted to add that I suggested to a neighbor to try it for her arthritis and I read it was good treatment for asthma. It helped her surprisingly so. She used to wheeze when someone outside cuts the grass and had to go in the house. The doctor put her on the strongest medicine that was left and it wasn't helping. Nobody could believe how well she is on the MSM. I learned on another group that you could experience headaches while taking it and if so then you must add molybdenum. Also take vitamin C with it, it is needed to work and for you to feel right. Interestingly, MSM is a sulfur manufactured from wood but it doesn't have action exactly like our sulfur amino acids. So it is hard to say how this stuff works or how it fits into our system. But when I read about supporting that Methlyation pathway, molybdenum is a mineral needed to support that as well. Whatever it does it seems to help the body detox. Also is a pain reliever. My dog is doing great on it also. And you can add it to juice. Especially orange juice that already is loaded with vitamin C. Keep digging, you are doing a good job making a connection. Guest guest
If you are concerned about toxicity of any supplement, do a search on " vitamin A toxicity " . You will get clear description on this on the net. Also do this for your minerals too. Some of our minerals can get to toxic levels also because not all of them flush out of our body daily. I was put on vitamin A when I had candida and I stayed on this supplement. I didn't get bad toxic symptoms but was surprised that I did qualify as getting too much of this vitamin. One symptom I remember is for YEARS having trouble distinguishing purple from blue. I stopped taking large doses of it and in a few months began seeing the colors right. I recall a mention on some message board of a rash developing in kids and this is a clue also. I used to get a rash on my fore arm and didn't know why. I think it was because of the amount of A I was taking. When you read about your immune system needing support you read how incredible vitamin A is. This is so much emphasis on this that I think most of us can over do it. Liz D. > Btw-- another subject, but have you tried the high dose vitamin A > protocol? Are they even still recommending it?
