Guest guest
Hi Hi everyone... My parade got cancelled due to bad weather. We started off this morning at nine am. with a breakfast for the seven hundred member krewe then we got on a trolley/streetcar, and rode around the city visiting a children's home first. The kids were waiting outside and every float, twenty five in all, passed there and gave beads and trinkets to the kids. This year, I did not cry. It is so hard to see those faces and to know that they are in this home from other parishes cause they were neglected and/or sexually abused...My daughter took it hard as she teaches a few of the high school students from there. I rode in the trolley...I had a poncho on as it was raining but it still was alot of fun. There was no sun so I did not use sunscreen...anyway the rain would have washed it off. We may roll tomorrow but that is doubtful as there is an eighty percent chance of rain. It was cancelled today due to tornados. If we do not roll, I have to pick up twenty cases of beads and nine hundred pounds of beads plus balls, and sacks and sacks of trinkets until next year...But they are all gonna be wet...so...my blow dryer is gonna have a ton of work to do. But at least, I will not have to buy throws for mardi gras next year. chippy
