Guest guest
That's great Aase! :-) Don't you love it when you find someone who enthusizes about the same breed? And even more exciting when its not a common breed in your area! :-) I hope you can keep in touch with them and plan many a play dates with your little pups! Sounds like a wonderful recipe for fun! :-) -Rhea PS. I am also a big toy breed enthusiast Lol but my addiction is to poodles. I have a toffee/apricot coloured 5lber who is 8 inches at the shoulder, and a jet black 10lber who is my service dog and 12.5 inches at the shoulder. Gotta love our dogs! :-D
Guest guest
Hi Rhea, Yes, it will be a lot of fun!!! Especially when summer comes and it is nice to be outside... Peanut is just a little bit smaller than your toy poodle, she is 4.5 lbs... Just the right size, I think!!! One of the other yorkies were much smaller, but she actually weighed the same as Peanut... She had a lot of long hair though, and I cut Peanut's hair quite short... I offered to cut the others too, and they seemed very happy about that. I did it because they seemed to have trouble with keeping their hair in the shape it should be in. And unfortunately so many breeders do not take the time to show new owners how to take care of the dogs. Taking care of Yorkies, is a lot of work and you need somebody to show you the first time. e.g. one of them had looooong hair hanging at the back, nobody had told them that the tail hair should be trimmed... I guess that poodles are a lot of work too, but in a different way. Isn't it tough for your hands and arms to brush them? I used to help a neighbor bathing and grooming her Bichon, but it was awfully hard for me to do... You need to use force on that kind of coat, something I luckily don't have to use on the Yorkies. I think we are a lot like eachother, I am totally in love with Yorkies... When I got Shanti, my other Yorkie, I was told that there were 130 of them in the whole country... I am sure there are more now, but they are not many at all, so we get stopped everywhere we go, people are asking about the breed etc. I have had the pleasure of giving breeder info to several who just fell in love with Shanti and later Peanut...
