Guest guest
Maybe this is a naive question, but what about the flu shots? I guess I would have assumed they would have been lumped into this movement. Also, is one even capable of finding a flu shot without thimerosal in it, like if someone wanted to pay extra??? Thanks, Kari [ ] GOVERNOR SWARTZENEGGER SIGNS MERCURY BILL!!! Roxanne R. Przybysz Founding Director Autism Canada Foundation http://autismcanada.org/home.htm http://www.autismcanada.org/RansomVIDEOpsa.mov California Governor Swartzenegger today signed into law AB 2943 (Pavley), the bill that will ban the use of mercury containing vaccines in California. Below is my personal statement on this historic event. Rick Rollens/M.I.N.D. Institute
Guest guest
The California bill covers the flu shot, but not for this upcoming flu season. At this point, it is almost impossible to buy the Aventis Fluzone in the individual dose, prefilled syringes with the pink stopper that are thimerosal-free. Aventis only made a small amount of this formulation, and the CDC bought almost the entire production of it for use in the public health clinics. For those trying to buy on the private market, you're out of luck. The other brands and multidose Fluzones have thimerosal (except Flumist, which is not approved for infants). However, for unbeknowst reasons, Aventis decided to make lots of thimerosal-free flu vaccine for sale in CANADA (as well as New Zealand, Australia, etc.). Instead of calling it Fluzone, they're calling it Vaxigrip. Other than the thimerosal and some chick embryos, Vaxigrip is the same formulation as Fluzone. It contains a trace of mercury (1 micrograms, vs the 25 in the thimerosal-containing Fluzone). Wonders of all, Aventis was able to make Vaxigrip in multidose vials with just a trace of thimerosal. Wonder why they couldn't do that down here? There are Canadian online pharmacies which sell Vaxigrip into the US market, and for less than the cost of Fluzone. If you're really psyched to get your flu shot, you can order from one of them. Kari Trautman wrote: >Maybe this is a naive question, but what about the flu shots? Guest guest
Well, why can HealthCanada approve such a thing but US FDA can't? andrewhallcutler wrote: >> Wonders of >>all, Aventis was able to make Vaxigrip in multidose vials with just a >>trace of thimerosal. Guest guest
Thanks for the explanation. I am SO not psyched, but do have family members that are. Looking into this might be better than going down to the local Long's for their annual shot. Kari Re: [ ] GOVERNOR SWARTZENEGGER SIGNS MERCURY BILL!!! Guest guest
The flu shots are allowed a higher level of thimerisol - this bill was amended to read that way. > > Maybe this is a naive question, but what about the flu shots? Guest guest
Kari, We tried very hard (in Iowa) to get the flu shots on as part of the bill, but the Dept. of Health would not go for that and the bill would have died in committee if we hadn't made some compromises. However, Weldon's bill (the national one) DOES include the flu shots, so make sure your representatives and senators are supporting this!!!! I'm guessing the same situation came up in Callyfornia, where Aventis-Pasteur was fighting hard against this. Remember, it's to their advantage to keep some mercury in the pipeline, otherwise the numbers will go down too fast. Guest guest
I stand corrected. Thanks Kari! It's pretty clear that as prognosticators these vaccinators are clueless. They sure whiffed completely last year. On the eve of the flu - vaccine - induced flu epidemic season I offer this advice. I never worry about getting the flu shot. I just wait and catch the flu from somebody that's already been vaccinated!
