Stacey, I've never tried this, but I know recommends biofreeze,

and I have gotten some relief from that, as has my Mom. I would

guess that it does have to do with not responding to local

anesthetics, but that's just a guess.

Stacey -

Lana and beat me to the punch on this one but they both made

the same suggestion - Biofreeze.

Biofreeze doesn't technically qualify as a topical anesthetic

because it doesn't block the nerve pain sensations like a true

anesthetic. What it is is a COLD treatment compared to a heat

treatment like Ben Gay or Tiger Balm.

I can tell you that is by far the most effective of any of the

creams, gels or sprays I have tried over the years, and I have tried

most, if not all, of them at different times. I can also tell you

that it is what the pros use (Chiros/Osteos/PTs/OTs/LMTs), and since

I am licensed myself I guess I fall in the same category.

I doubt you would find it in a regular store. At least I have never

seen it in any retail outlet I have ever checked. I always get mine

through either a Chiro office or massage supply store.

If you do get some and try it out, the big caution is to make

absolutely certain that you THOROUGHLY wash your hands afterwards.

You do not want to accidentally get any of this in your eyes - or

any where near other particularly sensitive body parts. You can

draw your own conclusions on where " they " might be. I speak from

painful personal experience on both counts. Other than that, when

you first apply it it doesn't feel like it is doing anything. After

about a minute or so the area will suddenly start feeling cool. One

good thing about it is that you can keep applying it during the day

after the first application wears off.

I do recommend it highly.
