Guest guest
It's great to have you here ! =) Those 90lbs don't stand a chance against Weight Watchers and your own determination! =) 175/142.8/130 Original Message: ----------------- From: Crawford rscrawford@... Date: Thu, 09 Sep 2004 10:07:11 -0700 (PDT) To: Serious-Weight-Watchers Subject: Re-Introduction (Back to the meetings for me) My wife and I are pretty excited about the Core plan, so we decided that in order to get the full benefit, at least one of the two of us should start going to the meetings again. Because is still convinced that she isn't ever going to lose weight, I agreed to attend. So I went last night for the first time in several months, signed up, weighed in, and so on. The first nasty surprise was that during the time when I didn't have the accountability of weekly weigh-ins, I'd gained back something like ten pounds, which brings me to 243.3, the heaviest I've *ever* been. Talk about rude awakenings. In the meantime, I'd also switched primary care physicians, since my old one decided to drop his practice and be a hospital doc instead. It was pretty easy to convince Dr. Kennedy to write me a note saying that my ideal weight should be 180 instead of the 153 that's listed in the WW books. Dr. Sandhu is not so easy to convince, and she wouldn't write me such a note. " 153 is just about right for you, " she said. I don't take offense, because Dr. Sandhu is a great doctor and I know she's got my best interests at heart, but man, that means I have NINETY!!!! pounds to lose! Oy! That's Rude Awakening Number Two! So. What I have decided is this. Since I was lucky enough last night to show up at the meeting where the leader was discussing the first of the Winning Outcomes tools, I've decided that I'm going to approach this as if it were my first time on WW, with all the optimism and recommitment that entails. I've *almost* got to agree with this approach, but she's still pretty cynical. So, in that spirit... Hi, everyone! My name's , and I've just started WW. I'm excited about the Core Plan, and I think it's going to work well for me. Right now I have 90 pounds to lose, and I'm shooting for a pound a week; at that rate I should be at my goal weight in less than two years. Looking forward to all of it! -- Sláinte, S. Guest guest
Hi ! I think you have a wonderful attitude and you WILL make your goal! I am glad that decided to attend meetings and try again! Make little goals to start instead of looking at the full 90 pounds. Be sure to reward yourself with some little thing....books, cds, workout stuff, etc to keep your incentive high! ONE MINUTE ONE HOUR ONE DAY AT A TIME!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!! Guest guest
Hey , Glad to see you back!! Good luck to you and hope this program is successful for you and your wife also. I guess for some of us on this list and/or in the weight-management category, the " nasty surprise " syndrome is something we have to constantly battle and learn to control. I know I've had my share of those things in my weight loss journey so far. I've reached lifetime status twice now and when I got cocky and complacent, there came the nasty surprises. This third time of trying to get back to goal saw me about 20 pounds away and then for some reason I started slipping and now I'm probably a good 35 or so away. I'm going to join up again this Sunday and go to the meetings every week again--they have a program here where lifetimers can pay 8.50 a week if they go every week and don't have to prepay. I've had a really hard 6-7 months with my kids' activities--I had 3 of them signed up for WAY too many things since February and that continued into the summer. I felt like a taxi driver with no salary and no tips and no time for me to decompress and there went the eating habits and exercise. Sort of the extreme soccer mom who can't say no to anyone or anything. Does anyone have any advice for that or has been through it or going through it? Might sound slightly off-topic, BUT it's a huge eating trigger for me--that complete overwhelmed feeling where you're grabbing at any food around because you have no time to really have any meals. With Pop Warner football practice starting last August 2nd I really don't know the meaning of the word " dinner hour " and now school has started on top of that. I need to get back to the meetings and insist that the time is MY time. Good luck to all of us!! Guest guest
Sorry to hear that! I know it would be a lot easier if you both could do this together!
