Guest guest
I know you have to be scared , but don't panic yet. The lymphocytes are type of white blood cells. What is showing is some kind of virus in her system. It can be things like whooping cough, mono, and a slue of other things. Some, no big deal, some very scary indeed. Try to hang in there and wait till the Dr talks to you. I'll be praying it's a simple Virus! Cindylouwho Very scared now Oh, I'm so scared. I just got a call from 's dr about her blood test. She has very elevated lymphocytes (sp?). Her number is 61.0 I don't think they are suppose to be above 10. This is so scarey, I don't know what to do. goes to the hemotologist/oncologist tomorrow. This is very troubling. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guest guest
Don't push any panic buttons yet , elevated lymphocytes are a sign of the body fighting off infection or allergy, and isn't the one who had an ear infection, bronchitis, and other things happening? Depending upon when the blood was drawn and what stage she was in terms of response to antibiotics, this is entirely predictable and normal. A lymphocyte is a type of white blood cell that is primarily found in lymph nodes. Lymphocytes provide protection against some kinds of infections so again, their elevation means they are responding to a fire. Jill
Guest guest
Hi , I can completely understand you being scared Darl, but please try not to worry to much. As Cindy says the lymphocyte count indicates an infection of some kind being or having been recently present. I will be keeping you nda in my thoughts and prays and hoping it's something very easily sorted. Hang in there and know I am sending all the good vibes I can find. Love and hugs....Jo xxx
Guest guest
I know it is easier said than done, but try not to worry yourself until you have seen the hematologist/oncologist and have gotten more information. I have had elevated white blood cell counts for the past 2 years, and while they still haven't been able to figure out the cause (after many many different tests), all forms of cancer and leukemia have been ruled out (and I have a major family history through my dad's side of lots of cancer/leukemias). Odds are that she is recovering from an infection/illness that was not very symptomatic or she may be about to get sick. It is most likely that if she does have a form of cancer or leukemia that you would have seen other symptoms by now. Please also keep in mind that the white blood cells can be elevated by somthing as simple as allergies. How were her red blood cell and platlet counts? We are all keeping you in our thoughts and anxiously waiting to hear that is OK. > I just got a call from 's dr about her blood test. > She has very elevated lymphocytes (sp?). >

Elevated levels may indicate an active viral infection and a depressed level may indicate an exhausted immune system or if the neutrophils are elevated an active infection. Normal Adult Range: 18 - 48% Optimal Adult Reading: 33 Normal Children's Range: 25 - 50% Optimal Children's Reading: 37.5 I hope everything turns out OK - please let us know, OK? You will be in my prayers. Love Lana

Guest guest
Hi , I am so sorry to hear that you are so scared right now. Just know that you can get a high white blood cell count because of many different reasons. I always have a quite elevated lymphocyte count because of my psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. When I get an infection on top of it, it gets even higher. I can't remember the numbers right now though. I am glad to hear that she is going to a doc already tomorrow, so that you can get some answers very soon. Hopefully it is not the kind of bad news that you are so afraid of now... Sending you lots of positive thoughts... hugs, Aase Marit >Oh, I'm so scared. >I just got a call from 's dr about her blood test. >She has very elevated lymphocytes (sp?). >Her number is 61.0 >I don't think they are suppose to be above 10. > >This is so scarey, I don't know what to do. > > goes to the hemotologist/oncologist tomorrow. > >This is very troubling. > >HELP!!!!!!!!!!!! > > >

Guest guest
Hi , Nothing is worse than worrying about our kids, no matter how old they get to be . I know it's easier said than done but just try to keep in mind all the other possibilities. Hoping the wait won't be too long and as easy as possible. Guest guest
, One thing I have learned recently is before you get all freaked out get a second or even third opinion. With my Ankle the main University Hospital in Rhode Island said it was osteomelytis w/ non-fusion of the joint and I would need years of antibiotics and possibly amputation and an immediate surgery to insert antibiotic beads in the bone, another said it's just a failed fusion all we have to do is refuse it again,UNC said it was a failed fusion but was uncertain about the infection part. Duke said yes it's a failed fusion and I have chronic osteomyelitis but I don't ned tretment for it immediately (they gave me the soonest appoinment or so they say which is in 8 weeks). So who do I believe?????????????????? I'm going to Bringham and Woman's Hospital (The foot and ankle actual clinic is is the Faulkner Hospital) in Boston next week for yet another opinion. At this point I don't know wwho to believe but I want the pain to stop. I don't mind pain when it's healing something but pain while some bacteria is eating away at my ankle bones is not cool. Good luck and try to relax. Sue K
Guest guest
Hi I know its hard not to be scared, but I am learning (especially from this list) that you should wait & see what the doctors say. Hang in there and hope for the best. Guest guest
, Like everyone else has said try not to panic yet, wait to see what else the tests showed as just an increased lymphocyte count could be LOTS of things and most aren't nasty (I mean sure there are some nasty things BUT all of the other things will be ruled out first). Wait unti you see the heamatologist/onocologist (I know that just by sending your to the onocologist and what they specialise in has scared you, and then having a high level come back has really put the fear of Cancer or Leukemia into you BUT I am sure that this is infact a very unlikely result (From what I read on the internet). See http://www.fpnotebook.com/HEM88.htm and PLEASE let us know how you and go with the specialist today/tomorrow and TRY NOT TO PANIC, the FLU can give you a high lymphocyte count....
