Guest guest
> If I do slip, I'll tell you. Then I'll feel bad, and try try again. Remember, it's not the slip that is important, but what you do after. If you make a mistake, accept that you are human, and then KEEP TRYING. Don't let one slip be the end of your efforts. It's the same thing you learn in Weight Watchers about chocolate cake and binge eating - it's what you do NEXT that makes you successful, not whether you can be perfect all the time. -Barb

Guest guest
Thanks, Yea, I know everything you said is right. I also have a very addictive personality. I'm an all or nothing sort of person. This gets me in trouble a lot. It's actually how I started having all my joint problems. I was excercising so much. And, very intensely. I'm still working on it. With all the other crap that's going on in my life right now, I'ts not so easy. But, I'm hoping I can do it. I'm not putting too much pressure on myself. I'm hoping the hypnosis tape will help. I have to teach myself how to take it easy, do things gradually. I can't expect a lifetime of habits to change over night. But, I've only been smoking for about 7 years. I used it as a crutch for anxiety when we moved to England. Hugs,

Guest guest
Dear , " But, I've only been smoking for about 7 years. " Well then you have a better chance than most to successfully quit! That's good news :-) Since you had developed other ways and means of coping with stress during your formative years (teens) then you have a much better chance than say I would, who started smoking at 14. I really, really wish you the best! Hugs, B. HEDS, New Jersey, USA
Guest guest
I like the " But, I've only been smoking for about 7 years. " line. ONLY 7 years if you have been smoking for 7 years then expect it to take a while to give up, you have 7 years woth of nicotine and other " stuff " in your systema nd 7 years of using you smoking as a stress reliever and coping mechanism and unless you find a new way to cope with stress etc you will probably crave the smokes more. Try to take up something else when stressed, something simple to get your mid off the stress and the cravings. It could simply be make a herbal tea or cup of hot chocolate or do a puzzle or sew or knit or so something with your hands , that also takes your mind off your stress and cravings. I live to do crafts, read, " eat " , drink (I don't drink alcohol), playw ith the dog, do puzzles, have long hot baths, put on a DVD, go for a drive, go window shopping etc etc to get my mind of my stress and pain. Take up a new craft or activity that are easy on your bady but help with your stress and coping (I mean you ahve a LOT of stress with everything going on with your own body, with your kids illnesses and with your kids schools (I too would be furious about that), write a book f=do something you can turn to when a craving for the smokes hits or when you feel stressed and everything is pilling up (take a cooking class in soemthing fun and funky and then you can cook/bake when the urge hits (fatten up the family instead of smoking ).
