If you have a health food store where you live, they will have a couple for

you to choose from. ( take your magnifying glass to read the darn labels ).

I have also heard that Wal-Mart has a vit. with no iodine.

Hi , Yes, I still LOVE my vitamin...

http://www.drz.org/asp/store/DetailPage.asp?ProductID69

My husband is taking them now too... if you don't want to order them over

the internet, check around and see if you can find a healthfood or super

supplements store that sells them, though you most likely will need doctors

orders to buy them, but who knows you might get lucky! If you do need

doctors orders, see if your doc can give them to you or you might need a ND

to do it.

Hi Pam L. I really don't trust the vitamins from Wal-Mart. My mom was

getting hers there and her chiropractic/ND guy told her they were no good.

You are right about needing a magnifying glass though, and Terry's story

about them just adding iodine in unexpectedly says read the label every time

you buy them, just in case they change the formula.

Mine specifically say " Without Iodine and Iron, With Copper " on the front.

Hi ,

After I was diagnosed, I read somewhere (maybe from this group) that

my multi-vitamin should not have iodine, but should contain copper.

So I found Schiff Vegetarian Multiple (on sale) that works for no

iodine, but it lacks copper. Schiff is easy to find in the health

section of Fred Meyer (Kroger's), and at my local coop. I just

bought NOW Calcium Citrate plus Magnesium, Zinc, Copper (1 mg per

serving), & Manganese. I've only seen NOW products at the coop. I

looked for " good " vitamins with a little cost savings.

Since purchasing these, I have seen some debate/information regarding

the need for copper and also relating to calcium combined with

citrate. What I have works for me. I'll just be starting the Calcium

Citrate, though, so I'll see on that. However, I was taking cooper

(2 mg) in a different supplement with no problems.

I keep seeing this WalMart thing all over the Internet, and have really

wondered myself. Personally I would not use theirs, but I never had it 'from

the horses mouth' before. Though I suppose if one were in a small town and

had no other choice ???

Hi Pam,

He said they were garbage... so I would think you would probably be better

off without if that was all you could get. There are vitamins that just don

t digest and end up in the septic system.... this is probably one of them

and a complete waste of money. Have you read that article about the tons of

vitamin supplements pulled out of city sewers every year? I don't know where

it is right now... but I've actually read it in a couple of places - gross,

I know.

Is the Spring Valley brand, I get mine fromWalMart and have been

very happy with them. The Women's One Daily doesn't have iodine.

The Centrum Women's One Daily is the one I was taking before I got GD. And

before that the Natures Way Prenatals from Costco... and before that the

Women's One Daily again. I would say they didn't work for me. They all had

zinc, but no copper, and you only had to take one a day..

Now, I will never go back to a one a day type of vitamin. Our bodies can't

absorb all the nutrients packed into one capsule or tablet at one time... so

having a vitamin where you split the dose up throughout the day gives your

body more vitamin in the end...

Pam,

I just went to that site--didn't find your vitamin, but found and took a

health quiz, which I answered honestly (except for my name and email, I

don't like that being a required field so I lied). It came up positive for

hypoglycemia, candida and digestive disturbances--even though I have, and

have had, no symptoms of those things ever, nor did I answer the questions

that would lead to that conclusion positively! And, the 'likelihood' of my

having these things was graphed out at up to about 97&!!! Of course it

recommended a four-week course of nutritional supplements (I have to admit,

I didn't go on to see what stuff they were going to sell me).

I find their conclusions bizarre--I would hate to be a gullible individual

and take that test. And, while I'm not averse to taking vitamins more than

once a day, I also question the logic of taking them multiple times a day,

it almost seems to be micromanaging my health, so to speak.

I do worry that I may not be getting everything I need, although I eat a

balanced, fresh diet and buy what I don't grow from the farmers' market more

often than not, veggie/fruit wise. I may just stick to my oils and Co-q10

for a while, I guess. I certainly couldn't find anything at Whole Foods that

fit my vitamin needs.

Terry, I don't claim to know anything about that dr. z guy! That is just the

only place I found on the net that will sell these vitamins to any old

person... which doesn't mean he is a good place to get them from, just that

it's an option. And when people ask for a link - there it is. I could point

them to the Tyler website, but they don't have an option to purchase them

there. I have never bought them from the Dr. Z, I get them at Bastyr

Dispensary. I usually do say that when sending the link though.

They are working for me, that is all I can say. And they don't have any

artificial dyes or additives and are one of the few vitamins that work for

people with many sensitivities, like me. For several months I was splitting

my vitamins and minerals up and taking them individually so that I could

avoid iodine, avoid C and avoid some of the B vitamins that were making me

more hyper. I got sick of that - talk about micromanaging your health! Then

I started to feel worse again and asked my docs at Bastyr if they knew of

something that might work for me... and they recommended the Tyler Basic

Nutrients V - and I've been taking it ever since.

Ideally, we SHOULD be able to get what we need from our food... but in

reality, that is not as easy as it should be... don't get me going on soil

quality and all that! Plus, many of us have all these foods we have to avoid

which makes it even harder to get what we need nutritionally, and taking a

quality vitamin in amounts we can absorb seems to be the next best thing.

Pam B.

PS. That link is not right - I just checked and it brings up some mens

formula or something. will have to check my site where got it and see

if it's wrong there too.

This is exactly where I stand. I've heard secondhand info about them being

" no good " , too, but haven't been able to find a first hand source that says

_why_. Anyone got one? However, about the only places to buy vitamins here

is at like a Wal-Mart, Target, Kmart. We have a GNC, but they don't have any

vitamins without iodine (I've checked). So I'm stuck with what I can get

there. I do like the Calcium with Vit. C supplement from Wal-Mart, but if

there's some reason why they aren't as effective, someone please tell me!

Maybe that's why I can't seem to build up any bone despite taking 1200 + mg.

of Calcium a day!

Maybe I'm going to have to check into your mail-order source, Pam B.!
