Guest guest Posted January 31, 2004 Report Share Posted January 31, 2004 Dear JV I was misdiagnosed with bursitis before getting my steriod induced avn diagnosis. My pain also started on the outside of my hip and I have spoken to many others who say the same. I was given two steriod injections into my hip. Two weeks later the pain really increased. They say steriod injections don't cause avn but I know how I felt - groin pain immediately kicked in. I was late stage 4 before I had my resurfacing which I will never regret for one moment. I think the possible outcomes can be slightly worse for avn patients but at least I have bought some time before having to have a total hip replacement. Good luck with it all.
