I work on a computer all day too. I work an 8 1/2 hour day, was just waiting for

a shift bid to come in, as I had requested a 32 hour shift instead of the 40

hours, but just found out today that we will be assigned shifts for now, instead

of getting the bids. If they give me night shift or more than 32 hours, I am

going to have to talk to them about it. Hope I am fully diagnosed by then so I

can get a note to back me up. I get very exhausted by mid afternoon, to the

point of almost falling asleep at work. That would not do! I am very tired

today. My DH and I switched sides in bed as I thought my side was too hot, being

near the heat register. Trouble is, our biiiiig 27 pound cat cannot seem to

figure it out and wants to lay on me now instead of DH. So I was kept awake

nearly all night by the silly furbaby. Ellie

RE: Hi!

I, also, need help. I work on a computer all day. Any tips for avoiding back

pain and stiffness. Jan

Again, a message I posted days ago. Someone just posted that they are having

problems with getting posts. I think we all are. Since I am new to this group I

am not sure how busy it usually is, but only getting a few at a time and as I

said, some of my own posts are days old before they get here. Who was it that

asked for fibro specialists in Toronto? Let me know, I think it was here, and I

will type out the names and post it again. Ellie

Hi Ellie,

I was reading your post and cracking up! I certainly can relate to the

furbabies!

We have three cats. All female and one of them is pretty big. They all insist

on sleeping with us. It's pretty bad when you have a queen size bed and there

is just a little square for you! lol

I also can relate to your work issues. I have SLE, FMS, mild MS and seizures.

However up until February I was trying to work a 9 hour day every day. I am a

Member Service Specialist for a Health Insurance Company. But I was getting

so sick and feeling so exhausted! It came to a point where I was out of work

more than in due to flareups. Finally with much coaxing of all my friends and

family, I decided to go out on short term disability to let my weary body

recoup! I have been out since February 19th and what a difference it has

made. I am hoping that things will keep improving and that I can try and go

back to work early May but part time only. I spoke with HR and it's called a

reasonable accomodation. Hopefully part-time will work for me.

Good luck to you and I hope you get a dx very soon so that you can ask for

the same. Please feel free to email me anytime. Take care and have a pain

free day.

Hugs,

Annie C.

Hi Sofi. Welcome to the list. If you've been reading the posts then you

probably already know that I am fairly new too - again. I was here for a

couple weeks before and then left. I left because I felt bad about wanting

to vent all the time and the Jacquie wrote to me a few times privately to

assure me that venting was ok here and that everyone needs a place to do

that. She's great, and so is everyone else here. This list does remind me

of another list I am on - but it's not an Autism list. It's one of the CHD

(congenital heart defect) support lists that I am on. There is a group of

about 15 parents who recognize the desperate need for humor so we started our

own group because the other CHD lists didn't appreciate our kind of humor I

guess - lol. That's fine though. I was just making the point that I agree

with you about this group and the posts being good therapy even if we don't

have the time to reply to all of them. This group is wonderful and I love

the new phrases they keep coming up with. Here I am rambling on - sorry.

Again, welcome to the group!!!

Love, prayers and heart hugs...

Debbie (Dawsonville, GA) - Mom to Evan (9/7/98) ToF, repair surgery on

2/11/99, Absent Pulmonary Valve, RBBB, Asthma, Autism, and , born

Welcome to the list, Sofi. In my perusal of online egroups, I do believe

that parenting autism is unique...there is a humor and kindness I have

yet to find anywhere else. My son is ten (double digits sniff

sniff), and he is diagnosed with holoprosencephaly, or HPE, which is a

brain malformation occurring in utero. Although he is not technically

diagnosed as autistic--HPE is his umbrella label--he does exhibit many

autistic characteristics, especially in the area of self-stimulation. We

live in a small town in Tennessee...anyway, welcome again!

posts. I live in Miami and I'm married with two kids (and a live in

Nicolas is high functioning autistic. He's 8. My daughter

are all about legislation and treatments and vaccines and sometimes I

just want to scream!!!!

Thanks for all the laughs and maybe I'll start coming out of hiding

Hi Sofi.

You are allowed to scream here.

Someone made the comment once that this is the only place that you can vent

and someone will NOT say " weren't you watching him/her? " We have all been

there.

Hi Sofi! My name is Debbie, I'm a SAHM to 2.5 year old twins, Jordan

(ASD) and (NT). Though, you've probably already seen my intros.

I haven't been posting all that much. It's pretty easy to read the

emails but actually typing out replies requires both hands which my kids

usually don't let me have. I'm forever holding onto one kid or the

other or helping with some project or other or changing a diaper or ...

well you all get the idea.

Anyways, I know what you mean about getting support from just reading

other people's posts. They're a big help to me too.

my son had open heart surgery at 6 weeks. He had ASD/VSD. Luckily there's

no lasting effects in THAT area!

Welcome Sofi!!

I tried some of the other lists too, but this one is HOME! Sure, I take

breaks from it once in a while, but the others were SO dry and boring. This

one is just fantastic. People here support you when you need it, and

rejoice with you for those moments that only other moms of autiies can

understand! Like why I'm happy when my son said " Oh F$^% " when I told him

his job would be to clean the litter box in 3 1/2 years. (He just started

talking in mid-January at 3 years 3 months).
