Ack! How scary. I am hearing that is spreads like a cold they

think, and that they are thinking it is one of the cold virus

strains. Yikes. What is going on there to protect people?

Congrats!

I truly hope, though, the next virus we get in this house is ICK and not

SARS.

The virus has claimed a victim less than an hour from our house.

The info coming from the health departments is that you can only contract it

if you are in close sustained contact with someone carrying the virus. They

say it's much harder to catch than a cold. So far, the cases can be tracked

back, all of them, to the hospital which treated patient zero.

To protect people? Mandatory quarantine of all people, including health

care workers, who have been in contact with cases or suspected cases of

SARS. Many people in Toronto's major metro are wearing protective masks on

the street and any time they come in contact with others. My friend Nesbitt

is one of them; he works at MedicAlert AND had that kidney transplant so is

on immunosuppressants. An infection could kill him.

At our local health clinic last week, ONE nurse was masked. All the others

were not.

That's scary. This SARS thing reminds me of King's The Stand -- just

a little slower -- so far.

JJ is sick, Gail has a cough, is not sick yet, and they WILL go

to school unless they have a fever. If then have a fever than I

can't send them or they would be sent back. is borderline,

but I am thinking he is going to school tomorrow.
