You might try deleting your history file, then try to open my site again. Be sure you have an active internet connection. Sometimes when internet traffic is high, I have difficulty opening my site, so that might also be a problem. Dana
Guest guest
> I have been reading about chelation & am very excited about this however it seems too goog to be true. Can the children really recover ? Yes. About 3/4 of children respond well to chelation, the other 1/4 don't respond to it. Of those who respond, if the parents stick with it long enough, over half do become completely normal. Exactly how many is not well determined yet. The rest do get dramatic improvement that is well worth the effort even if they don't get complete recovery. Of the 1/4 that don't respond to chelation there are a variety of other things that sometimes help. > My son is almost three years old. A good time to try it. > Am I putting too much hope in this type of therapy. No, but there is no guarantee your son is in the 3/4 that respond, or the half or so that become completely normal. But it is pretty easy to find out. > Are there any adverse affects. There can be. As with any powerful chemical agent, chelators must be used properly. Unfortunately almost no doctors know how to do this (just like almost no doctors know how to use mercury injections properly so they poison tons of kids). > Sometimes books just mention the positive aspects. Yes, and doctors, and moderated listservers. The way to handle this is to talk to a lot of parents, and realize that most any therapy, no matter how inappropriate, will work for SOMEONE. What you are listening for is people to tell you the disadvantages you didn't hear in books or from the doctors. When doing this, be careful to get educated first so you draw distinctions between therapies properly because most of the people who had a bad experience will overgeneralize it. For example, " chelation " isn't one therapy. There are a large number of ways to do it. Most people have a horrible experience using the 10 mg/kg every 8 hours approach with DMSA, but then do fine using 1/4 mg/ kg every 4 hours (the 4 hours is the important part). If you like technical things I can discuss in more detail what is going on wiht chelation, why timing is important, what is right or wrong with the various protocols. You may also find it very helpful to read the " love letters " file in the files section of this group's web page, and also to look at the chelation surveys in the polls section. Even with the best protocol, some people do have problems and rarely these problems are serious. Anyone who is telling you everything they do is perfectly safe, everyone gets all better, etc. etc. is actually telling you they don't know what they are talking about.
