Good morning. I am new to this list and this field and would be

grateful for a bit of info. A very, very brief intro follows the

question.

The question is: if I go stark raving cold turkey gluten free right

now (actually, as of Sunday eve), how long should I expect before I

start seeing noticeable results?

Background/brief intro for this: 47 yr old male, highly active and

fit, experiencing what in retrospect look like possible CD symptoms

for 1+ year on a mild-ish basis; experienced sort of " crash and

burn " symptoms in Feb/Mar. Tried to treat as individual problems

and only just now stepping back and wondering if the message in the

big picture isn't CD. Symptoms include pain/numbness/burning feet;

muscle/joint pain esp in thighs and a little in R arm; balance +

coordination loss; beer intolerance; milk intolerance; wheat -> gas,

stool problems; metallic taste in mouth; chronic fatigue; chronic

pain; night sweats + sleep problems. Basically, in 9 months I've

gone from able to keep up with collegiate athletes to being barely

able to walk (literally) and in constant pain. I'm wondering/hoping

that CD might be a diagnosis. Blood tests for this and a bunch of

other possibles were drawn yesterday so it will be a bit of time

before the lab results are back.

Until then, I'm wondering, as a diagnostic indicator, if I *am*

wheat or gluten intolerant, and if they are causing all these

symptoms, how long after ditching gluten completely should I start

to see an improvement?

Many thanks

Newell
