Guest guest
Then if you aren't swelling most definitely cut down on the lasix. The protein in urine result is pretty easy to read. There should be any. A trace is sometimes acceptable, but the test will then be repeated soon. Anything that comes in amounts means there is some problem. Protein in itself is not a big deal, or that's what they thought until recently. Right now they're having studies trying to prove that a fairly large number of protein in urine may in a long term damage kidneys further. When they say long term they mean at least a year, possibly few. Until recently not much was done for protein itself. They pretty much just treated the symptoms, swelling. Now they are considering whether protein should actually be addressed. In my case it was probably what over the years caused my kidneys to go into failure. All this information is from my nephrologist, who is a professor at Cornell. Proteinuria also causes high cholesterol. Mine used to be 400-500 for the longest when I was spilling a lot of protein. There isn't much that helps either. Hope the catch comes back with positive results. Also, weigh yourself a lot, every other day or so. Now with reducing the lasix you need to make sure you're not retaining fluids. Usually it means at least 5 pounds in a day or two. Mojo Re: Re:Mojo Mojo when i first found out i had lupus yes i had alot of swelling in my legs. So they put me on that much of laxis a day and they conitued to keep me on that high of a doses for a long time i don't know how much i was spilling i never understood the result of all the lab work or anything like that. but hopefully we can taper me down more on the laxis as for as i know i am not spilling any portien right now but who knows what the 24 hour is gonna show. I haven't any swelling in a good 6 months. I assume that you are taking such a large amount of lasix due to swelling. That can be a sign of lots of protein in your urine. I was on 240 mg lasix daily + zaroxolyn to induce the lasix for while. Otherwise my regular dose was 120 daily. My protein was over 11 gr per 24hrs. Now it is down to about 3-4 gr and I'm on 20 - 40 mg lasix. What a difference. Have you been spilling protein for a long time? Do you know what it was over the years?
