Guest guest Posted April 15, 2004 Report Share Posted April 15, 2004 , I look at this hair test, and I am pretty concerned. I don't want to scare you, but I have never seen such levels. Unfortunately, the counting rules do not apply to great smokies. Because your results are so disturbing - if it were my child - I would probably have it repeated by DDI, and start preparations for chelation. When I started last May - we had really high anitmony levels as you do. Be sure to eliminate exposures, as being toxic in this metal can be just as bad as mercury. Pajamas, water, bed, sheets, playpens, car seats. There is an another group that adresses this- antimonyandarsenic/ If this test is accurate - and your child functions pretty well, I might suspect a chronic exposure of some sort. I would buy organic food, replace water supply, replace bed w/organic, replace pajamas, test the soil & water, ensure suppliments are from mercury free sources- etc. I am curious- how well is your child? [ ] NEED HELP WITH HAIR TEST RESULTS i'm reposting this b/c i didn't get any response. if anyone can help...plz do! hair test results below... thanks! jenny Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Guest guest Posted April 16, 2004 Report Share Posted April 16, 2004 Hello , 1. I agree with 's post--- you have lots of toxic metals here -- going by the " red " and " yellow " in the toxic section. 2. I did also comment on this back in post #108790, saying some of the same thing. 3. Please understand that GSDL's ranges for green, yellow and red are NOT the same as DDI's-- (GSDL's ranges show things as yellow or red sooner [at lower percentile] as compared to DDI.) So, I feel somewhat handicapped in trying to look at your test results. Please ALSO understand that GSDL tests fewer essential elements, so there is less data to go by. HOWEVER, given all of that, and bearing in mind that I feel somewhat handicapped, I would still say that the essential elements on this test look VERY ABNORMAL, which is generally an indicator of a high probability of mercury toxicity. 4. But even if I'm wrong on the mineral transport issue, the other toxic elements look like a problem. 5. could you please check the test results. The following does not " seem right " to me: > > aluminum 5.20 <=23.13 yellow if ref range is < 23.13 and your sample is 5.20, I would expect this to be " green " ? > > arsenic .074 <=0.082 yellow and same thing here > > barium .19 <=3.26 yellow and same thing here except this one is WAY WAY under 3.26.... > > bismuth .201 <=0.224 yellow > > cadmium .065 <=0.106 yellow > > lead .523 <=1.559 yellow > > mercury .07 <=1.69 yellow > > nickel .145 <=0.559 yellow > > thallium <.0005 <=0.0005 yellow and all of these above > > uranium .001 <=0.072 yellow and this one, by a mile. I'm also looking at the ref ranges and colors on the essential elements, and I have some of the same confusion there--- > > copper 7.28 7.62-28.76 under 50% red How can this be " red under " when the ref range is 7.62 - 28.76 and this is just a tad under that? It is POSSIBLE, but I wonder if it is correct. Please check the color. Final comment: I'm confused. good wishes, Moria > > thank you andy, moria or anyone who can help... > > > > lab: gsdl > > hair test > > > > toxic elements: > > aluminum 5.20 <=23.13 yellow > > antimony 1.74 <=0.03 red > > arsenic .074 <=0.082 yellow > > barium .19 <=3.26 yellow > > bismuth .201 <=0.224 yellow > > cadmium .065 <=0.106 yellow > > lead .523 <=1.559 yellow > > mercury .07 <=1.69 yellow > > nickel .145 <=0.559 yellow > > thallium <.0005 <=0.0005 yellow > > tin .9517 <=0.1825 red > > uranium .001 <=0.072 yellow > > > > nutrient elements > > calcium 141.1 115.9-992.5 under 50% yellow > > magnesium 35.4 6.5-88.5 under 50% green > > copper 7.28 7.62-28.76 under 50% red > > zinc 123.6 87.5-281.5 under 50% yellow > > manganese .080 .035-1.011 under 50% yellow > > chromium .66 .17-.49 over 50% red > > cobalt .0083 .0035-.0307 under 50% yellow > > molybdenum .058 .015-.048 over 50% red > > boron 36.885 .177-4.860 over 50% red > > lithium .0143 .0032-.0119 over 50% red > > strontium .84 .08-2.87 under 50% green > > sulfur 53,125 43,122-51,875 over 50% red > > vanadium .0684 .0254-.0574 over 50% red > > > > rubidium .081 .0004-.072 over 50% > > iron <13.51 13.51-18.48 under 50% > > phosphorus 192.64 116.65-300.60 under 50% > > > > thank you! > > jenny Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Guest guest Posted April 16, 2004 Report Share Posted April 16, 2004 hi moria... thanks for your response. for the toxic elements, on my test there is no green area only yellow which is reference range and red which is over reference range. then for the nutrient elements, it goes red on the lowest level, then yellow, then green in center for ref range, then yellow slightly higher and red the highest. i hope that makes more sense. i didn't reaize how much different the actual testing sheets are from company to company. thanks... jenny > > > thank you andy, moria or anyone who can help... > > > > > > lab: gsdl > > > hair test > > > > > > toxic elements: > > > aluminum 5.20 <=23.13 yellow > > > antimony 1.74 <=0.03 red > > > arsenic .074 <=0.082 yellow > > > barium .19 <=3.26 yellow > > > bismuth .201 <=0.224 yellow > > > cadmium .065 <=0.106 yellow > > > lead .523 <=1.559 yellow > > > mercury .07 <=1.69 yellow > > > nickel .145 <=0.559 yellow > > > thallium <.0005 <=0.0005 yellow > > > tin .9517 <=0.1825 red > > > uranium .001 <=0.072 yellow > > > > > > nutrient elements > > > calcium 141.1 115.9-992.5 under 50% yellow > > > magnesium 35.4 6.5-88.5 under 50% green > > > copper 7.28 7.62-28.76 under 50% red > > > zinc 123.6 87.5-281.5 under 50% yellow > > > manganese .080 .035-1.011 under 50% yellow > > > chromium .66 .17-.49 over 50% red > > > cobalt .0083 .0035-.0307 under 50% yellow > > > molybdenum .058 .015-.048 over 50% red > > > boron 36.885 .177-4.860 over 50% red > > > lithium .0143 .0032-.0119 over 50% red > > > strontium .84 .08-2.87 under 50% green > > > sulfur 53,125 43,122-51,875 over 50% red > > > vanadium .0684 .0254-.0574 over 50% red > > > > > > rubidium .081 .0004-.072 over 50% > > > iron <13.51 13.51-18.48 under 50% > > > phosphorus 192.64 116.65-300.60 under 50% > > > > > > thank you! > > > jenny Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Guest guest Posted April 17, 2004 Report Share Posted April 17, 2004 hi jennifer... thanks for your response. i think maybe (atleast i'm hoping) that everyone is being thrown off by the yellow levels in his toxic elements. on the gsdl test, there is only yellow which is reference range and red which is above reference range. there is no green. does this sound better than what you originally interpreted? I was very concerned about the antimony and the tin, because they were above ref. range, but assumed the rest of the metals were in a " safe " range. Please letme know if you think this is still such unusual levels. i am a member of the antimony and arsenic board but i'm dissapointed in it b/c there are not near as many posts flowing in as here. since you are probably a member of that one, too and sound knowledgeable...do you mind if i ask a couple more questions... how do you find out if your carseat is toxic and where do you find ones that are not? i've gotten rid of jammies and replaced with 100% cotton tees and boxers for sleeping. but what about polyester in his clothing? practically every t-shirt he wons is atleast 1/4 polyester. do you have to replace mattress or can you cover it with something? when you chelate with dmsa and ala, will that also get rid of antimony and tin? what do you suggest for water? i use filtered water but have started to boil it. does this sound ok? my sheets and pillows do not say that they are treated with flame retardant. Do i assume that all except organic are treated? my son is a lot better since we started gfcf. i am now limiting carbs, sugars, etc for yeast which was a 1+ and will start chelation very soon. he was recently tested as a very low possibility of having autism and at his new school, we opted for the " label " of pdd instead of autism, because we believe he could be mainstreamed (one day). his skill levels are very scattered, but have improved greatly since starting the diet. our main concern (behaviorwise) is social skills and that he is completely non verbal. we have him on several supplements but nothing has worked for language yet. thanks for any more advice you can pass along. thanks! jenny > , > > I look at this hair test, and I am pretty concerned. Guest guest Posted April 4, 2007 Report Share Posted April 4, 2007 This test is a Genova Elemental Analysis - it is an effort to apply the counting rules to this test. DDI hair tests are recommended. Also, you haven't included information about colors and under/over for the essentials (which is hard to explain how to do for this test, and not really worth the effort from what I can see). I think it might meet counting rule 1 - does not meet the other rules. I suggest checking for sources of antimony, bismuth, cadmium, and lead, and removing those. One source of lead can be drinking water, cadmium exposure can come from second hand smoke, antimony is in flame retardant bedding/pjs. Other sources can be found at Dana's link and in Andy Cutler's book: http://www.noamalgam.com/hairtestbook.html Even just based on symptoms, it is worth doing a trial of chelation. Since lead and cadmium may be involved, DMSA is the best chelator to use. After you find a comfortable dose of DMSA, you'll want to add ALA to get mercury out of the brain. See the files for information on how to chelate safely with low, frequent dosing, and for important supplements to use while chelating. -- > > Hello Everyone: > > I'm rather new here and don't post much but I do learn a lot from > everyone here.
