Guest guest
physical therapy/shoulder Hi, I need some input about physical therapy. My grown daughter has EDS Classical type, and her primary subluxations are with her shoulders. She has chronic pain and a lot of crepitus. Her internal med doc referred her to a PT, who has said she feels her collar bones are malaligned, and that her rib is pushing her shoulder up and out of place??? ~~~~~~ Sue I was told by a PT that my first ribs were too high and were up in the trapezius muscle area...he was always trying to push them down too... Hopefully Mike will answer on this as he knows anatamony and phys.... Bonnie
Guest guest
Hi - I have a chronic and reoccuring problem with rib/shoulder problems. The rib could easily be pushing the shoulder out of place and causing pain. However, I don't know how much luck she'll have with just pusing it back it. And I believe that if the pushing is too aggressive that damage could be done. There is probably a lot of muscle involvement - in which case the muscles need to be relaxed before the bones will stay where they belong and not just pop back to their 'out of place' place that they've been in for awhile. Trigger point therapy, massage, aqua therapy, are some ways to help relax the muscles - although I'm sure there are many more. I've had electrical stimulation done (which I think is for a combination pain relief and muscle relaxation) - but it has never done anything for me. The info Mike will eventually post will be the least likely to do damage and least likely to cause side effects and should work at least as well if not better than other things. The PT might even know how to do what Mike suggests. Good Luck > > Hi, > I need some input about physical therapy. She is doing a lot of deep massage and electrical stimulation and is " trying to move that rib forward " so her shoulder will go back into place. She is very sore, but hopeful this will help as she has a really active beautiful 13 month old who is quite busy. > My knowledge of EDS and PT is that you strengthen the muscles around the affected joint, not pressure on something else? I personally dislocated several ribs in an auto accident and know how painful that is firsthand.....it took months for them to move back. They are using electrical stimulation also. > What do you guys think? I don't have any articles to give her to take to this therapist....maybe she is doing a great thing, maybe damaging her worse. I just don't know. Even as an RN, I never knew what was helpful with PT for myself. Until Dr. Levy just had me do hydrotherapy and isometrics, everything else made me worse. > Please give me input to help her....she is anxious to hear from everyone here and to help the therapist help her. > > Thanks so much! > Sue > > >

Guest guest
Hi Sue, My rib went out again last night while sleeping on my side. I woke up to not being able to move or barely breath. When it happens it's always the same spot for me. I did polarity on that spot in the front, I couldn't move to reach to work in the back. I am sore now, but it has gone back in. Before learning the polarity, (from Mike of course) this rib would hurt for 6 weeks. Now, in just a few hours, it only hurts when I use the right arm or breath deeply. Now I can try to reach the back were the rib attaches and take it a little furthur. It's so nice to find such a gentle way to realign bones. Guest guest
Cindy - Do you have a Theracane? If not, you might want to consider getting one because you could use it to reach the spots in back that you can't reach otherwise. As info, I am right in there this morning with the rest of you - I have a couple that are grabbing me as well and have been bouncing back and forth between self-treatment and working on posts this morning. If I had learned nothing else at all in my Polarity classes, that Rib Head Release was worth the entire cost of the program by itself. I have literally lost count of the number of times I have used it now to be put ribs back in. If you figure between $40-60 a shot for a chiro or osteo to do it, I probably have already recovered the full cost from just working on myself and the family. (And that doesn't even address the value of the X technique). You are right about it being gentle. And when you consider how many of us also have brittle bones (like me) and can avoid the risk of getting your ribs cracked from a forceful thrust adjustment, it is really a nice technique to know. And yes, I have already replied to Sue but it hasn't posted yet. Mike
Guest guest
Sue J., Did the Dr. do any x-rays to confirm the ribs are mallilined?
