But every time something like the Virginia law happens (and they're happening far too frequently to fight them, I'm afraid), we get closer and closer to it -- Canada is much more in line with our philosophies... Virginia is where my family put roots, and my sister wasn't even aware of the law. Look to British Columbia, the climate is better and there's a ferry that will connect you to Seattle, Washington (I think?) to visit Mike, Darlene, Kerry and Barb! You can take the Clipper between Seattle and , BC but it's NOT cheap!!! $62 one way. You can take the Washington ferry system from Sydney, BC to Anacortes for $13, but then it's still a long drive from there to Seattle.
