Wheelchair shopping...

I went on a brief excursion to locate some of the Invacare dealers...and I

won't do that again. The three in my zip code are all tiny storefronts that

barely have room for the hundreds of other medical products they carry. I was

looking for someplace that might actually be able to help me, not a store the

size

of my tiny apartment with people who only know what they were told by the

manufacturers they carry. Oh well.

Mark, is there a phone number for Invacare? Maybe they know of someone that

can come out to your apt and measure you, bring samples, etc. When my FIL

needed a wheelchair, I had to take him to the store, but when the w/c person

came to fit him, she brought several examples of electric chairs with her....

Tell them you can't get out of the house - maybe they will make a house call

for you!

Hi,

If you have any possibility of doing so, you should really get an

occupational therapist with experience in wheelchairs to help you

out... It is very easy to go wrong, and a dealer of course wants to

sell... It is an advantage to get your needs evaluated before you

look at chairs, if you can...

When I got mine....they came to me. A therapist came who knew lots about the

different chairs....she brought brochures and samples and made sure I got all

the features which were necessary. Definitely contact Invacare though so you

get a wheelchair dealer who carries that type of chair.

When I got mine....they came to me. A therapist came who knew lots about the

different chairs....she brought brochures and samples and made sure I got all

the features which were necessary. Definitely contact Invacare though so you

get a wheelchair dealer who carries that type of chair.
