WHY DO DOCTORS TALK DOWN TO US?

Hi Robyn,

GGrrrrrrr! This makes me so angry.....I had the same feeling at my New Rheumy's appt. last week....When he told me I had Fibromyalgia......I asked him how he knew since he had not examined me....He replied very haughtily,"25 years of practice as a Rheumatologist!"......I told him that the People in my support group talked about "Trigger Points " in connection with Fibro......and he said, "Fibromyalgia is just a term used to describe a set of symptoms, aches and Pains all over, insomnia, and fatigue." I felt he was talking down to me the whole time .

Robyn here (female)- I was at my rheumy to today and was trying to explain to him about the side effects that I got from certain meds he had put me on (Plaquenil, for one) and he was kind of chuckling, like he was humoring me or something.
