Guest guest
C., You are right, he WAS talking down to you. There ARE 18 hot points on the human body that will respond painfully when pressed if fibromyalgia is flaring. I have those "hot" points all the time, every day. Some days worse than others, but it never completely goes away. But, my Rheumy (current one and the last one who retired) says the only way to tell for sure if it is fibro that is causing a flare of inflammation, is to do the physical exam. Many other autoimmune problems, as well as viruses, can mimic symptoms like fevers, aches, pains, and sleeplessness, etc. But, only Fibromyalgia (sometimes referred to as Myofibrositis in it's chronic and acute form) will trigger a strong pain reaction in all 18 hot spots on the body. These are located where there is connective tissue near the joints, like the area about one inch from and surrounding the hip joint, or the shoulder. It will appear over the rib cage, around the knees, elbows, ankles and fingers and toes. Believe me, I know, having been there and done that many times. I would suggest to that doctor that we are none of us too old or educated that we can't learn something new. Love you, MM
Guest guest
I dislike it when I feel the doctor does this to me. And it always seems to be the Rheumies! I am on the 4th one now, and I thought things were going well with him, until last week that all to familiar tone appeared. I think I will stick with this guy though, on the most part he listens to me, and he hasn't given me a pain in the ass yet. (Like Deanna's Doctor--Hehehehe) Love,

Guest guest
Dear MM, I knew this Doctor was a Jerk when He told me I did not have Lupus.....he said since I was in remission....that means I do not have Lupus anymore and he wasn't sure that I had Lupus to begin with ....since he did not have the notes from the doctor who diagnosed me as to how I was diagnosed..... I told him that I had a scaly rash that covered my entire body, even my scalp, and all my hair had fallen out, my thyroid was way out of whack....at 33....and I fell into a coma .....they did a biopsy .....took a big chunk out of my leg...and used......I can't remember the word ....something like (flouroscope) to diagnose Lupus. I was diagnosed while in that coma. His reply was "Well if the rash was all over your body, and not just in areas exposed to the sun, that means it wasn't Lupus!" .....Even though he was looking at notes from my old Rheumy that said I had `Subacute Cutaneous Lupus and SLE..'..and notes about the appearance of the rash on my back (Quarter-size round flat lesions) HE MADE ME SO ANGRY......all he would look at was the last blood work My Nephrologist had done that said my ANA was normal...... And try to tell me that I don't have Lupus anymore, if I ever did have it ....and not to worry about the sun......Thank good ness for this Group.....I knew all the things he was saying was Bullshit!! Guest guest
C., MAN! What a Maroon, as Bugs Bunny would say. That doc needs a complete re-eddicatin' that's what. I'm so glad you didn't believe his nonsense, and go right out and get a tan. Love you, MM
