Some of my best meditation has happened in dentists' chairs. Rather than sit

there, being drilled while the novacaine wears off too early, I go visit

Raquette Lake -- specifically, the dock at my grandmother's cottage. I lie

there,

gently rocking in the waves, watching the clouds and trees...very much startled

me the first time it happened, but I'm eternally grateful I can get there...

I think it partly is explained by NLP. Some of us are visual, some tactile,

etc. You find what works.

As a music director, my greatest challenge, and the most rewarding, was

trying to communicate what I wanted. After all, you're dealing with something

that,

if it could be talked about, wouldn't be sung...consequently, I learned a

wide range of approaches -- if one didn't work, I'd shift among them until I

could determine how best to reach that person. Or persons -- groups have their

own

dynamic, too, and there it's much more a matter of, not controlling, but

guiding the group energy where you wanted...I'm rambling.

BTW, I'm also intimately familiar with the reverse of visualization -- I

can't tell you the number of times a day I used to call myself stupid...when

most

of the time, it was either EDS or being human...and I know how difficult it's

been to rid myself of THAT bit of programming.
