Chippy, I'm afraid I agree with you about kids and parents shopping these days...or going anywhere

in public. When I was a child, it was remarked on if A child was acting out in public. Nowadays, it is

remarked on if A child is conducting him/herself in a quiet and respectful manner. Things do seem a

bit backwards today, don't they? I shop at night because I can't be in the sun, and it IS quieter.

Hope your next trip isn't so frantic. Loving hugs, MM

okay summer vacation is here...the kids are out of school...and i am

too...i have spent the last nine months trying to teach the children how

to behave, how to be mannerly etc...and it is all undone in a matter of

two days...

i went to wal mart today...and I get so aggrevated with all the kids

just running all over the place and screaming...running into your

baskets and getting in your way...pulling toys off the shelves and

hanging onto moms basket crying and screaming for something...you

actually have to manuever your basket in between the kids...

Where are the moms...i have no clue...just kids running wild all over...

One particular group of people looked like they had just come out of the

swamp...the kids were running and grabbing groceries and throwing them

in the basket for mama...and mama was yelling that she did not want that

and throwing it back for the kids to go pick up...

These are the same kids that the parents expect me to teach manners to

during those nine months in school...and in a matter of two days, the

parents have undone all that hard work. If i would have the kids going

wild like that in the classroom, you would bet those same parents would

have something to complain about ...

i am sorry...but my kids did not act like that...they were taught

better...and their teacher was me...you have to raise your children not

only for yourself but also for society.

And when the school bell rings again in August and those same children

come back into the classroom, i am gonna have to start all over

again...getting the behavior under control...and heaven forbid if i send

home a bad behavior report on one of them...then the sh_t will hit the

fan for sure with the parents...

Well if you think I am prissy, in this respect i am...children should

not be allowed to act like wild heavlins in public places...

And what gets me very mad is the mom that hits and screams at a kid who

is obviously tired and in need of a nap..

one time a dad actally took his belt off and was going to hit his son

with in in the check out line at the grocery store...the boy was just

tired...the man raised the belt and i told him if he did hit him with it

i was calling Family Services on him...well as you can imagine. the mad

got really huffy with me...but i could give a rats ass...he was not

going to hit that kid with that belt...I told him he should put the belt

back on his pants and bring the kid home and feed him and give him a

nap...and then the kid would be rested...i hate when this happens the

most.

So summer vacation is here...maybe i will go shopping at midnite from

now on...i will keep more friends that way...hehe...chippy

AMEN CHIPPY! You would not believe how many people come up to me and ask how I can manage to take 9 kids to the store by myself, and they see that they are all following along and the older ones know what products we use so I can ask them to each get a couple of things on the list and I stay with the little ones and do the rest of the shopping. All that I have ever done is this. From the first time a child comes into our home, when we go to the store, mall, church, anywhere, when we are in the parking lot I say the same thing before we go in. Anyone who is expecting to stay up until 10 oclock this evening will act like the young ladies and gentlemen that I am raising. You are representing our family when we walk through there and how you behave is a reflection of how we parent. We just expect no different no matter what the background of that child is. We expected Bridget to get into a mainstream classroom with an aide and she has done beautifully well, we told she needed to get into some school activities and she just loves band and student council. Freddie is a little young for too much and still has bad days and we home school Karl so he is a whole nuther ball game, lol. The babies are the same way, they are on a schedule. When I was in the hospital was cracking up because he put the plates in front of them and they folded their hands and waited for prayer. After dinner Freddie went in his room and came out with their jammies and diapers and toothbrushes and the babies were standing at the bathroom door saying "shower daddy, shower". If all of this makes me prissy, I will take it, but we have well behaved (mostly) respectful kids that we respect back.Sorry, I didn't mean to get so long on this but what I was trying to say is that you are right, if they don't have stucture and boundries at home, how are you supposed to build that in at school?

That is one of the reasons I could never be a teacher. I was actually

offered a job a the preschool Arek is in when Kasper was there. They had

Sebastian before, and then Kasper. Now it is Arek's turn. When I told the

director of the school that I had no experience, she told me she thought I

had plenty from seeing how my kids behave. But there is no way I could put

up with other children. Not because they are bad. It's their parents fault

for not teaching them.

I get so reassured I'm doing the right thing when one of my kids gets

invited somewhere without me and all I hear is so good they were. Kasper

still goes a bit wild, he's 7 and one of those who can't sit still. But

otherwise they are pretty well behaved. I never take them shopping if I can

help it. I don't really think a store is a place for kids. Get one or two

things you need and run out. They need air and space, not a store to get

their energy out.

I don't envy you in that aspect. You try your best to teach them, only to

see how some parents don't even try at all. But the job also has a lot of

rewarding moments, doesn't it?
