Guest guest
Lost another corner of this same tooth (the third cracked molar of those I have left). I break in a new dentist (private this time) tomorrow afternoon, if there's anything left for him to look at by then...they move around so much anyway, I'm not looking forward to whatever happens -- I hope (s)he's reasonably responsive. I went back to the clinic this morning, but after circling the parking lot 5 times to get a parking space and discovering 20 people in the reservations line, 15 waiting for a triage appointment, and no one in the administration office, I decided trying to stay and deal would be worse than the bruises. Actually, I DID document them -- set up my tripod and managed to take a couple of pictures (BTW, I think only an EDSer could have managed the contortions I went through for that). And I know, for fact, that my doctor documented at minimum I had been given a muscle spasm. I don't know if there was more detail or not, but at least trouble with that shoulder was documented. The bruises weren't the worst (I should have expected them). What I think happened is my ledft arm/shoulder has been in crisis for some time and was extremely tense (steel, called it). The cuff was simply too much for the whole structure, causing problems from my hand all the way to my back, even dislocating a rib for a while last night. worked on it for a while, twice, which helped a great deal. More than anything, I want this to not happen again. It's going to be difficult to get accurate blood rpessure readings for a while, until I can meet them with less a sense of doom. The strategy I can see is to ask them to use my right arm (it's not in as bad shape for some reason -- I'm right-handed, so I guess my left was the " brute force " side and got damaged more?), perhaps ask it to be done manually instead of by machine; make sure my shirt ISN'T under the cuff (my understanding is it shouldn't be, anyway); and keep my eye on and my free hand near the velcro seam, ready to remove it the instant I'm not listened to. They can discuss it with my doctor if that gives them a problem! Her side comment was, " I don't want to make it worse -- you wouldn't believe the way nurses talk to doctors here... " I know; I've had them make decisions that clearly should have been made by my doctor, misinterpreting information she also gave me... I'm still there, partly because the district has the cheapest prescriptions I can get (those on the formulary, at least), and because the mental health end has been so successful. And I do have a good doctor, if a fairly powerless one...she does what she can. Still hurts, though.
