Sprinkling today! And tell about the sanctuary; Putter hates it too.

So, no I do not think we will go, for if we went I would

Don't you just love the hall?

Ah yes, sprinkling, that makes it all the more so impossible for us

to enter the sanctuary today. If we manage to get through the doors

he makes a dash for the space under the Holy Water basin and grasps

fast to the legs, yelling, " No Bless! No Bless! " I have no idea why

he has developed this aversion to being blessed but he steadfastly

refused to be blessed either with Holy Water or the sign of the

cross. I don't know if you recall when we had 's baptism we

could barely keep him out of the Holy Water, but since then he has

changed his mind and there is no unchanging it until he decides to do

so. If he decides to do so.

Now for the sanctuary, again I am not totally clear why he has

decided that is not a place for s to be, but he has. Besides

the obvious determent of the Holy Water, there are those horrible

songs the congregation insists on singing. The last time we actually

had him in the sanctuary he covered his ears, yelled, " NO SINGING! "

over and over, and climbed under the pews and tables in the back

during the singing. Inbetween he would look at the missalette and

count the numbers on the bottom of the page, but he was otherwise

uninterested in the proceedings. The last couple times we tried we

also had some problems when it was time to go up to be blessed by the

Father. He would walk up nicely enough but frantically tried to

dodge the blessing while yelling, " No Bless! " .

Since then I have not attempted a repeat of these lovely

experiences. I keep encouraging him and I have hopes we will once

again enter Mass with everyone, but it is not going to happen soon.

Other than this unexplained aversion to Holy Water, and his

sensitivity to the singing, and possibly the close quarters, I have

no idea why he won't go in.

I am very familiar with the hall, as I'm sure you are. The nursery

and I are good friends also.

Well, I continue to believe that Putter's baptism did not " take, " and that

is why he will not enter the sanctuary. He realizes that it is not proper.

And that would certainly explain the Holy Water aversion, but I have never

tried to bless Putter with Holy Water because I knew instinctively that it

would never work. Well, I am sure I must have tried years ago but he, using

his excellent behavior modification skills, managed to train me out of that

abhorrent behavior.
