n did the same thing the first couple of times I took him to drop in

daycare. I think the first time or two the kids are preoccupied by the

novelty of new toys and people and are not anticipating that they are being

" left. " I'm not sure n even noticed the first few times. After a day

or two the novelty wears off and they realize that you are in fact leaving

them there. Then the crying and adjustment period starts. At least that's

how it worked with us. I don't think it's anything to fret about.

,

I am so happy for you.

Hang in there with the crying stuff. You can do it. Sometimes you have to be

cruel to be kind. (Even though you are not really being cruel, you are just

doing what is right for you and your child)

Take care

cried when I took him to school today (He did yesterday too but the teacher

said he stopped as soon as I left).

This is generally true.

It broke my heart of course however...

Oh, it certainly does.

I was happy at the same time because as the teacher was carrying him, he

turned toward me and held his arms out to be and made eye contact!! WOOHOOO

2 things...eye contact and gesture!!

Yes, truly wonderful, but it must have been hard not to take him and go back

home with him! I know I would have felt that way (but I wouldn't have done

it; far too desperate to get Putter to talk by the time he went to school).

Exactly. Robbie was thrilled to go on a bus his first day, and then he was

not so thrilled. Now he has so many friends and he really likes his class

so he is always happy to go. Putter, well, Putter would like to stay with

me and do odd little Putter things.

Try to think of it this way. It's good to know he's sad you're leaving him,

it shows he's attached to you. It's good to know he calms right down

afterwards because it shows he's actually content, maybe even happy to be

there. And lastly, it's great to know he's happy to see you!!
