Hi all,

My parents have actually agreed to write out their health histories

for me to take to the geneticist next month, but the geneticist's

office has not sent me any paperwork and my parents don't really know

what info they need to include, besides the major stuff (cancer,

arthritis, surgeries, etc). Does anyone have any

guidelines/suggestions? Thanks much!!

Get it all down - all surgeries, medications, onset of the need for

the use of medications, prolonged illnesses, reactions to surgeries,

anaesthetics, medications. Anything common to one or more people - all of

it. What you think is insignificant may be really significant to the

geneticist, so take everything.

A couple things they will want to see is a family health tree listing the

family disorders and reasons for death. someone here probably has a good

url for one. I think they like you to go back about three or four

generations

Another thing they like are pictures of yourself at different ages.

Sitting, standing etc. they can tell a lot from those; candid pictures --

not so much the school photos.
