It's such a relief when a sick child is out of the woods, a parent hardly realizes what stress she's been under. Maybe two weeks later a person will fall apart after the emergency is over. Not that I would wish that on you. Especially since you have your wonderful daughter's graduation coming up so soon. Summa Cum Laude is an honorable rank, to put it mildly. I would love to take the credit for my daughter's accomplishments, but the truth is that she has lived with a mom with Lupus since she was born. That is when I contracted the disease, during my pregnancy with her 18 years ago. In spite of my hospital stays and general bad health, we have worked together to get her through years of all the things she wanted to do. She was also a champion dancer, having been chosen to be in a dance company at age 9, the youngest member they had ever had. ( That one amazed me.. I tried to talk her out of even trying out.) She won an award in second grade for writing a book, and was won the Disney Dreamer and Doer Award in the 5th grade, being the only one in her school district to win it. Now, she has been accepted at University of Florida with the Bright Futures Scholarship (paid for by the Florida Lottery) and will be studying orthodontics. My son, too, is an honors student who will be a junior next year. He was worried about his final exams this year while he was laying in the ER with his face injury. So, for a sick old Lupus mom, I have been richly blessed. It is God who raised my kids, I feel. Lupus robbed me of many moments I would have liked to have shared, but considering it was prevalent in our lives, God has been good to my family. Thank you all again, for your kind words and prayers. is holding his own today. The jury is still out on surgery,but I am praying we can avoid it. I hope this finds you all well and happy.
