Lana,

here. Get a second opinion from a neurosurgeon!!!!! I think you need a

myleogram of the cervical spine. Painful but gives a lot more detailed

information about the neck, more than an MRI. You can get soft neck collars

at most any drugstore, even the grocery stores that have pharmacies without

a prescription. Did the Ortho check your reflexes with the little rubber

triangulr shaped thingy? Where they tap on the back or your elbow, the

inside of your elbow, and the wrist?

I sent my check out yesterday, ok?

He checked my knees and elbow I think, but not the wrist. If it

doesn't get better, , I will get a second opinion. I just feel

like a whiner, and his attitude didn't help in that matter.

Lana,

Please get that out of your head, you are not a whiner, this Dr. didn't

give you the time of the day! Not even a thorough neuro exam> He didn't

check all the reflexes in your upper extremities! The !!! Please get the

neurosurgeon opinion ASAP, you are entitled to a second opinion! Stuff is

pushing on your spinal cord! You need the second opinion and a myleogram

with a follow up CT scan with the dye in there. The spinal cord is your life

line! Don't let this guy write you off>

Hi Lana --

I have been reading everyone's posts on your doctor's visit.

I agree that you should get a second opinion - the one thing I cannot abide is

when a doctor dismisses his patients. When this happens to me now, I run as

fast as I can to get another doctor. I just don't have the time to waste on

these others!!!!

I hope you are feeling better and I hope your pain backs off. I will be keeping

you in my thoughts and prayers.

Love, Patti

Hi Lana

Well I am glad to hear that surgery isnt going to be needed as that

would probably just lead to more problems. Sorry you didnt feel that

your doctor wasnt taking your pain seriously. Any way you can see

the other specialist that your original doctor recommended to get

his/her thoughts on the subject?

I am sorry but really glad too that you will not be having surgery.

Take it one step at a time with the therapy and see what happens.

That's the plan, right now, Deb. Thanks much!

I haven't really decided yet for sure, Stacey, but I think I'll give PT a

try, then if it doesn't help, go back to my doctor and ask to see someone

else. I hate all this, but I hate the pain more. Thanks!

Lana,

I am sorry that your appointment netted you nothing and something at the

same time - know what I mean? Hang in there. On the physician's list,

there are a number of physiotherapists there that people have recommended in

different states, would it help to consult with one of them over the phone

and have the physiotherapist of your choice talk to one who is more familiar

with working on someone with EDS?

Jill, I'm re-reading this. Are you talking about the physical therapist

talking with a physiotherapist??? Or the spine doctor I went to? If you

mean the physical therapist I'll be going to (on Monday) I think that would

be a good idea.if she's willing. I can always ask her, and if she's not

willing to, perhaps I shouldn't GO there!
