Sometimes

when I go to the store I use their electric cart. I do this when I’m

real tired and also if I have to go to both sides to the store to get a few

things. I hate dragging myself from side to side to get a small amount. I

feel a little silly sometimes because some people think I can’t walk and

offer to get things down off of the top shelf. Actually it is helpful when

they do that but I tell them I can stand. Lupus takes some getting used to,

that’s for sure. When I get home from the store it is all I can do to

get the bags in the house. Sometimes I leave the dry things in the car for my

husband and I put the cold things away and lie down. Maybe you snap at people

because you are mad that you have lupus. Get mad, scream in your pillow! Talk

about it. Let it out here. We are mad too!! We understand how you feel.

Cheryl you sound like me in the store now. After having numerous surgeries on my leg a few years back it was nice to use the carts them I felt guilty cause I figured I could walk okay.

Let me tell you lately I have been using them again. It is that or no going to the store. If I have to park to far from the front I also just refuse to stop. I know that is not good but I know that as wiped out as I have been it is best not to push myself.

You know I was helping a man reach something who was using a cart

yesterday and how ironic-- I should have been using a cart myself.

Hard to make that transfer, so used to doing everything myself. I'm

working on being more humble. Thanks, Robyn

Thanks for your reply. I do the same thing, put the cold groceries

away and leave the rest for my husband. I was just saying that I was

helping a man reach something who was using a cart and I was falling

apart myself. I need to learn to stop " doing " before I get the point

that I'm about to collapse. I almost had a panic attack at the

checkout. Got to slow down! I keep telling myself. Good to hear I'm

not the only one that gets mad about this. To the average person, I

probably look " just fine " . So, unless I ask for help, it may not

come my way. They're not mind readers. Very grateful for you and all

on this message board. Robyn
