you haven't let anyone down...I'm sure your brother understands...however, your

feelings are valid. Have you tried putting your ear to the floor, this probably

won't result in hearing the trumpet, but I have suggested this to someone else

who is deaf, and they said they could hear vibrations (this was with the piano

though...but worth a try!!) Playing percussion is a good alternative too - it's

very tactile in that you 'feel' the beat and also visual because you can follow

the beat with your eyes.
