Guest guest
, I went to Purdue, lived in West Lafayette for 8 years, including the undergraduate years, then moved to Kokomo IN, where I lived for 12 years. I now live in Logansport IN. The 3 cities form a triangle with West/Lafayette being the longest leg between both of the others. Kokomo and Lafayette are homes for automotive and support industries. Caterpillar was in Lafayette before Subaru-Isuzu and is one of the largest employers in the state. Chrysler/Daimler and Delco (It has another name now, too.) are in Kokomo. Logansport is the smallest of the three and turned down Purdue University in the mid 1800s and Chrysler in the mid 50's. If that had not happened, I could now be living in a college town with a large automotive industry. This would have polluted our two rivers tremendously, though, and the country side would be much fuller of homes than trees. Since those other two towns are not that far away, we can go shopping there easily enough. And with the Hoosier Heartland corridor finished between Ft. Wayne and Logansport, Ft. Wayne is now closer in time than Lafayette, due to the 4 lane highway. Within 20 years, this corridor should be open to Lafayette from Logansport, making it much closer than Ft. Wayne. By then, I won't really care. My sister tried to get a job at Subaru, but was turned down. Her friend, however, got a supervisory position and was trained in Japan. I believe they actually chose the wrong person. Not because she's my sister, but because of her capabilities. Their loss. Now that you know where the Boilermakers are from, maybe you can root for us when we play IU. Mike Gray Gray.. > I was reading the pls posts, and read your post.
